What date (or about what date) were you complete with all your requirements to graduate?

When was your graduation date?

When did you get your papers to apply to the BON and get your ATT?

When did you take the NCLEX?

When did you get your diploma and final transcripts?

THANK YOU- I had to find something new to obsess over:p!

Completed -- physically on June 15, 2008. Wrapped up and processed for graduation -- July 7, 2008. Request for transcripts to VA BON: mailed to EC on July 9, 2008. App to test sent to VA BON: July 9, 2008. Received ATT: July 17th. NCLEX: August 6, 2008. Graduated: August 15, 2008. Diploma ... um, I think around the 15th.

Virginia allows transcripts and whatnot to be sent before graduation, and NCLEX before graduation. Your state may vary. :)

Hmm can you clarify something? You sent a letter to EC requesting your transcripts be sent to the VA BON? I thought they were automatically sent (like my LPN school did) and I thought I had asked EC all the questions I had regarding that- argh! Thanks.

[quote=changeofpace;3399617]what date (or about what date) were you complete with all your requirements to graduate?

i know the feeling :-)

my answers are in red.

when was your graduation date? jan 14th

when did you get your papers to apply to the bon and get your att? i didn't wait for ec to send them. see my note at the end. well my att i got 10 days after paying my grad fee.

when did you take the nclex? january 21st passed!

when did you get your diploma and final transcripts? same time i took my nclex

thank you- i had to find something new to obsess over:p!

my instructions for nclex

    1. pass cpne, call ec state board advising team to see what you can do to expedite the process and find out what your state requires, each state can be different, ec was extremely helpful to me even if a bit slow.

    2. while you are waiting the 4-6 weeks after passing for ec to update your account so you can pay that $465 graduation fee................. do the following; go to your state's board of nursing web site and pay for 'rn licensure by examination' for me was via mn bon website $105. {go here https://www.ncsbn.org/index.htm to find your states bon. click on "boards of nursing" on the left side of the page. then "member boards" and then select your state. it will give you contact phone numbers and web addresses.}

    3. next: go to your state's bon website home page, click on left side "application forms". scroll down to "exam application packet for u.s. educated rn applicants" and you will see the 8 page documents with instructions. print out and complete the confirmation form (p.7) section a, except for grad date and mail it to ec. i faxed it to 1-518-464-8777 attn state board advisors. they sent me an email the next day verifying their receipt of my fax.

    4. next: fax a request to excelsior with your signature and student id stating you are authorizing the advisors to release your information to the board of nursing. mine just stated something like "todays date, this is a formal request from [my name] id # authorizing excelsior college to release my program completion forms to the minnesota board of nursing. that way it's all ready to go. they sent me an email the next day verifying their receipt of my fax. ec has to update your student account so you can pay the graduation fee! this was the most time consuming part... it took 4 weeks for mine to get updated just to show i passed the cpne. i called ec many times and always get the same message, that my "graduation status is being reviewed before it can be updated."

    5. so, while you are waiting for that to change, create new account on the pearson vue website for the nclex. http://www.vue.com/nclex/ now, the account you've been using for ec so far for the nc exams etc, is not allowed anymore so you have to create a new one for the rn nclex. {if pearson won't let you make a new account online you'll have to call pearson customer service, i had to do this. they gave me a new username and password on the phone and i went back online to pay the $200 for the nclex rn online to finish my registration.} excelsior's college code is 03-419 when prompted for that info. then the confirmation form you sent in to ec from bon with section a filled out, it has to be signed by the dean at ec. it will then automatically go out to mn bon since ec already has your signed authorization to release.

    6. i pay my graduation fee........... $495 to ec....... when it shows up on my account.

    7. ec sends confirmation to mn bon after i pay within 10 days.

    8. mn bon approves it and pearson account is updated and they will send out my att automatically.

    9. schedule and take nclex and pass with flying colors.

i did not have to wait for that graduation packet to arrive to do anything to get ready for the nclex. if you wait for your grad package, you should get a coupon in there for one free copy of your complete transcript to be sent to the location of your choice (i.e., your bon if required or just your own records). mn bon did not require transcripts just the dean signature. but this can all be done before you get that grad packet if you don't have patience for it by paying for a transcript on ec's site.

man, that whole thing i typed barely makes sense............................

Like I said, states vary. I did what I needed to do for the Virginia BON, which did require sending a request to EC to send my free copy of my complete transcript to the Virginia BON. Graduates also get a transcript coupon in their grad package, but I didn't want to wait to receive the grad package to get the ball rolling.

So I called EC and the person I got on the phone must have been mad at life because I got no where today :-/

Did you request to talk to the 'state board advisors'?

I always had someone helpful.... :uhoh3:

Paula Gabris in the state boards office is awesome, and can tell you exactly what you need to do. She helped me through the process!

NY doesn't require a transcript. I applied as soon as I passed the CPNE and got a date about a week after I graduated.

CPNE done early Aug, they had me finalized mid Aug, grad mid Sept - maybe it was Oct? Got the ATT about 10 days after the mid Sept date, took NCLEX and passed the Monday before Thanksgiving.

I did request that dept and the person who answered the phone had an instant attitude before I even said anything and it sounded like she was chomping away on a sandwich. I will try again and I'll ask for the person Lunah used lol.. Thanks for the help~ I even looked on the FL BON and I didn't see anything about a final transcript but they make it so hard to navigate- hopefully EC can clear it up!

what date (or about what date) were you complete with all your requirements to graduate? passed cpne 11/7/08, paid up all money owed to ec 12/9/08. 12/9/08 is the date they say i completed.
