im such a geek and a complete sucker for gadgets. i actually find it so much easier and cooler to study schoool work on my laptop or pda. i am to the point now where i dont want to study if its not on a computer screen or some other kind of gadget. what i want to know is does anyone actually use programs like RNdisease, assement, or those other skyscape products for school??? i guess people probably use it because there is so many differnet companies avaiable now. but do any of you use these kinds of programs for school/clinical/work. i really want to encorporate my love for gadgets into two big parts of my life, and they are work and school of course! i am really interested to know if you all are like me and if you are what kind of software do you use????

I used my pocket pc in clinicals all the time (mainly the Davis Drug Guide and NursProcedures)

what kind of pda's do you use and how do you get the software? Do you download off of a regular computer? I'm a nursing student (starting in May) so I don't know what our clinical hospital will have to offer, if anything. I'm really intrigued that you can put great references like Davis' and Tabors on a pda. I'm pretty naive when it comes to electronics though I do have a laptop that I love.

Thanks and hope everyone's day is great!

I use my PDA in clinicals and at work. A lot of times at work there is a question about a drug nobody's heard of or a rare disease, and I'll look it up for them. I have 5minute clinical consult, a Pediatrics suite, liponcotts drug guide, e pocrates, RN notes (this is very useful, it has a little of everything on it!), an NCLEX review, acid base calculator. i think that's it. I want to add an IV drug guide and upgrade my epocrates, but I need to buy a memory card as I am out of memory!

To answer the post about which kind of PDA I have, I have a HP Ipaq which runs on Pocket PC.

From looking at other people's PDA's they are SOOO incredibly useful, helpful, and time saving devices. I want one so bad. :-(

I have a Tungsten T5. Heaven in a gadget.

While we're on the subject. I have epocrates, and acls and palm EKG. Anyone know of more applications? I'm having problems finding them outside of the tabers and drug books.

i have a sony clie ux50 i thought itt was the cutest thing when i saw it so i had to get it, but now i wish i would have got something with more memory and i'm hoping to before i start school because theres no way i am gonna be able to use all the software that i want. i am really interested in epocrates essentials, its expemsive but i think its worth it because it has dieseases, drug info, labs, and more all in one. i think i seen it for $100 for 1 year. i am also enjoying my trial version of RNdiseases from skyscape, i find it useful because it tells a lot about different disaeses, care methods, common signs/symtoms, drug and treatment info. i think it wil be very useful for clinicals when i will have to do care plans and stuff like that..... anybody else ????? :)

Try the Dell Axim X30 or X50. A lot of memory for $240-380.00 There is a medical forum on Aximsite.com
