Ready to Apply CT Community Colleges- Nursing Program 2012

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

ooops... The other one had 2011 instead of 2012... let's try this again:

Just thought I would start a new thread for the current application cycle. Questions... stats... rumors... etc!

My question is... for those applying this cycle, how did you do on the TEAS V? Since this is the first year they are using this test, it would be nice to see how everyone is doing.

(Please don't post TEAS 3 or TEAS 4 results, as the scores are NOT comparable with the TEAS V.)

Thanks @nursewannabe86 for the info! Good idea on getting the date stamped on it! I made copies too, I'm gonna call her when she gets back to make sure she has it. If not then, I'll hand my copy straight to her! But I'm trying not to think about it too much cause then I'll go crazy lol. I'll be stalking her up to may 1st. Then like you said stalking the mail once again lol. I won't sleep unless I know she has it!

I'm glad your commnet says the book list. I was accepted to CCC and while they've listed the class schedule for the fall, NUR101 doesn't have a list of books yet :(

About the books: Go to mycommnet, log in, go to register for fall, look for NUR 101, there's is a small link saying "see bookinfo" or something like that, check the prices there. I don't remember exact prices, but there was a book around $350, dosage calc $90, clicker $40, and other stuff. Yea, ***** NVCCwasnt there today, I handed my intend letter to the admissions and asked them to stamp the date on my copy so that I can Blame it on them if it gets lost. You should copy all your papers and get stamps from the school and date onto your copies, in case something gets lost! Remember there is over 125 students handing papers in!Oh and all students that accept their seats will be getting another info package by mail, regarding background check, uniforms, immunization....so off to another round of stalking the mailbox after May 1st :) haha

Does anyone knows how many students came off the waitlist last year (CCC)?

I know someone who was #11 on the waitlist, and did not get in. Hope that helps!

Yea, the counselor at CCC said that if you aren't 1-8 it's very unlikely :( sorry

Hey u!

I have also been accepted to NCC spring 2013...I also requested a fall 2012 start!

I am so desperate to know if you know anyone who is already in or just recently finished the program. I just wanted an idea of what the program was like.

Congrats

Thanks

For everyone concerned about the flu shot thing - I definitely suggest speaking with someone from the nursing faculty for your school. I spoke with a nursing instructor from CCC the other day and she said that I didn't need to have proof of flu vaccination until like October. Which makes sense because I don't think this year's flu vaccine will even be out until August at the earliest. But I definitely suggest checking with the nursing faculty at your school to make sure.

Oh and Saramisu, I was trying to register online for English 102 to get my last co-req out of the way over the summer, but it wouldn't let me. So I spoke with an advisor at CCC today and he told me that was because none of our transcripts would be entered "into the system" until we have our letters in. I thought that was really strange because I was under the impression that unless they had our transcripts entered in the system we wouldn't have even been eligible to get into the program... but apparently not. The admissions people gave me incorrect information twice, so I definitely recommend meeting w/ an advisor face to face or maybe try emailing one - I've never had any luck calling.

Found some things out today...I spoke with a nursing adviser at TRCC...found out a little bit about the books...

For the first semester it was about $800 give or take for book costs during the 1st semester for NUR 101...that is not including the recommended books. The NUR 101 book itself is $400 or so...

The second semester is not as bad in book costs she said (: Still expensive, but that NUR 101 book is a beast apparently...

You can buy these books new or used, although I didn't find there to be a huge savings going used...but maybe you will (:

For those who live in the Norwich area...I have been going to Concentra Urgent Care for my vaccines and physical...they seem reasonable to me and you don't need to make an appointment...wait times so far have been negligible, they are pretty quick about taking care of you!

Hope everyone is making out okay!

$400 for one book? Our 101 bundle was about $450 that was fundamentals, two med/surg, psych, pharm, clinical? Math was separate. For 102 we had to get two more peds and maternity. 203 we need one last book. That's insane.

Yeah it's crazy!!! it's the Nursing 101 Package...when you say 101 bundle, what do mean exactly? You got all of those books for about $450?

Thanks for the info! I spoke to *******, and she told me to hand in a transcript eval form, which I did today. We'll see how it goes..
