Preparing for the NCLEX exam is going to require about three hours of your time on a daily basis for quite sometime, not sure if you have that available with your work schedule. And the bad weather has not started as of yet.
Working full-time plus commuting time does not give one much time to prepare as well as have a life. You need to be able to prepare on a regular basis and if you have never tested before.
It's sooo comforting for me when I read these posts. :)I too am a bit traumatized to re-take the NCLEX.
It's been an year after graduating, and I feel at times so embarassed to see all my classmates all pass, and it's just me left. My family are always reminding me..that I'm not getting any younger, and that I shouldn't waste my time/degree.
But, I found a job at a Pharma company in the meantime and it's great however, I've been working a few months and I'm finding it so hard to find time to study, or even motivate myself. My hours are 8:30-5:30, but these days I've been staying until 8 pm!!
I am so exhausted but have a new/old found desire to pass NCLEX.
And I am testing in January.
Any advice in how you juggle work and studying??
I am so ADD at times. I get into the groove and then easily get distracted by work-bf-life.
I really do want to become an RN.
Not sure if it shows, but I do want to do some good in this world, before I die. :redbeathe
thanks all!! :)
I was in the same boat when I just took my NCLEX for the first time. I had an hour commute, so I bought the audio CD review, which was great for me to ensure I reviewed daily no matter what. The other thing I did consistently, no matter how fried I was from the day, is do practice quesstions. The Saunders book comes with a CD of thousands of practice Q's. I would just pop that in and do them every night. That way, even if you don't have the motivation to crack open a book and read, you can still actively study, and the questions on the computer engage you, so its less easy to get distracted then a book. And let me tell you, some of those practice questions touched on topics that were in my NCLEX, and I was glad I had practiced not just studying the material, but studying how they might test me on it.
Good luck to you!!!!
reading this post made me think of how much time i was wasting every single day...i'm a stay home mom, and i've got the time on the palm of my hands...but rather manage them very poorly. i have the audio/cd reviewers, and yet sometimes, i get easily bored with studying...jeez, but i'm glad i found suzanne's plan. it's easier if you know that you have a plan to follow...good luck on your review as well =)
