3rd time is a charm

So on Tuesday December 30th I took the NCLEX for the third and officially last time! I will say that when I failed it the 2nd time I did the PVT and it charged my card and the trick was right because a couple hours later I received the report from the nursing commission saying that I failed. This being my third time I obviously needed to change the way I was preparing for the exam because my two other times were failures, so I decided to purchase the HURST review and it was THE BEST thing that could have done. Anyway going back to the test, I studied so hard that I mentally prepared for the test to shut off at 75 questions because in nursing school I was top of my class and I busted my butt putting in 60 hour or more in the ten days before the test. But guess what? the test did not shut off at 75 questions it kept on going and going and going all the way to 265! What got my through it was knowing that if you were getting higher level questions such as SATA your really close to passing. So my last four questions were SATAs so I wasn't sure if I got those questions right or wrong, but it did make me feel better like I was at least close. This time I walked out of the test thinking maybe a failed because I went through the whole test, but also knowing that I was close to passing! I went to my car drove home, pulled my laptop out and tried the PVT and got the "good" pop up. This morning the first day of 2015 I got my quick result........ and PASS!!!!!

Congrats! Now on to job applications!

Congratulations to you, question so the 3rd time around you only used Hurst review, just clarifying, I am reviewing for my second attempt, first time I went all the way to 265, when I received my cpr I was near passing in all categories, any advice or suggestions thanks

Kaplan review works well

congrats!

@memern14: It is not so much which tools you use. The concern is do you know the information, do you understand the information, can you apply the information, and can you use that information to solve clinical problems.

Congrats RN!!

yeah I used the ONLINE HURST review, it was 300 bucks but it was well worth it in my opinion. after I failed my second time I was above in 3 areas and near passing none below. While hurst is a content based review, it offers a little bit different way of approaching the exam. I feel like it was great, you are exactly where I was the second time around, very close to passing! I think you should clamp down and choose a study guide that you think will work best! I will say that nothing will prepare you more then hard work! good luck on your next test!

Thanks for all the advice, yes content and knowing how to apply are very important, I decided to use Hurst online and continue to answer questions etc, yes you are correct, hard work is a must because that's what got us this far..and thanks for the words of encouragement !!!

Congrats on passing your NCLEX!!

I will be writing this exam in a few months.

I have the Saunders & Hurst guide, and will invest the 300$ to do the online questions as well. Please send me anything else you can suggest that will be helpful to pass this exam!

Congrats! Great job!
