Hello again everyone!
For anyone who hasn't read my previous posts, I'm a career changer interested in trying an LPN program and then possibly bridging to an RN/BSN.
I already have a bachelor's degree (in History; earned 15 years ago) but coming from a non-science background, I'm taking it VERY slowly, one Science Pre-Req at a time! This past semester I took A& P 2 and it was VERY tough. So tough I got a C.
I admit that I was going through A LOT at home & at my full time job this past semester (and working an easy but time consuming pt time job as well) but I initially felt very discouraged about that low of a grade because I got an A in BIO 101 and a B when I took A&P I last Fall semester. I asked my cousin who is already a nurse if I should take A&P 2 over... and she told me "HECK NO! Its true that Nursing program recruiters want as many A's & B's as possible in your pre reqs but a C is an acceptable Pass... Besides, what if you take it over and get another C! Precious time (& even more precious money) will be wasted, so take that C and run with it girl!" I have since tried to cheer myself up and accept that although I didnt get the grade I wanted, I gave it my best shot despite my home & work circumstances, and still PASSED a very tough course. I plan on taking Microbiology in the Fall (and plan to FOCUS!!!) so I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks for the encouragements & I hope this encourages any career changers out there with FT jobs to keep going despite any difficulties outside of school, even if its at a snail's pace! For every class we complete were one step closer to our goal! I'll be submitting my application for the LPN program next Spring! If its full or if I don't get in for any other reason, I'll just keep pushing toward the RN... one class at a time! :)

You worked two jobs while going to school and only earned a "C"? I don't know about you but I find that very admirable. Because the only reason why I got A's was because I chose not to work and I just had so much free time on my hands to study up to 6 hours daily, plus time to read a novel for fun. So I commened you on that, and just try not to be so hard on yourself all the time.

Good luck to you! A word of encouragement: My friend, who also ended up getting a C in one pre req as well as a couple of Bs and As just found out she made it into the Fall nursing program. She was only three spots away from being accepted, and three people who were accepted did not take their seats for whatever reason. It's definitely possible! And if you don't get accepted, you can always retake that course if your school allows it. Do well with the rest of your pre reqs.
