RCNA Postgraduate Nursing Scholarships

Published

Just got my letter today to say that I missed out on one of the RCNA Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship and Support Scheme postgraduate scholarships which are funded by the Aust Government Department of Health and Ageing.

I applied to study a postgrad diploma in mental health nursing in 2011.

Have to say I was a bit disappointed, with mental health supposedly being an area of shortage. Although looking at the RCNA website, it looks like for 2011 they have merged mental health scholarships into a bigger pool which I guess would make them harder to get.

Did anyone else apply, and if so, how did you go?

Would love to know how many applicants there were and how many scholarships were awarded.

I am sorry about that i applied too but havent heard from them.

Sorry to hear, gotta love our change in government though, chunk it all together and let them fight it out....I was lucky enough to get one last year when they had lots to choose from and you applied for the scholarship that you qualified as it was specific to your work.....don't give up, try again....are they still offered every six months?

At least you got your post grad! I had my offer from uni and a new contract from the hospital when I got a phone call to tell me that 2 people had pulled out of the surgical post grad and there were no longer enough applicants to run it! GRRR!! so peed off! :( :( Sorry thanks for rant!

If any of you work in SA the South Australian public sector nursing and midwifery scholarships are definately worth applying for. They paid for most of my grad dip in nursing science My friend got the RCNA scholarship, they paid for 50%, the SA health one I got paid for 80%.

Everyone I've known who has applied for this scholarship has been successful. This year they've changed the rules, you have to complete the program first and then you get a retrospective payment where before you were given the money when you started.
