Hi Guys:
I live in Vancouver, BC. I just got accepted for the Fall 2010 Nursing Program at Vancouver Community College. I was wondering if anyone knows the rating for this school? It's just that i have waited 3 years to get accepted and i'm already on the waitlist for another school for Fall 2011. How long has VCC been offering Nursing? Is VCC a great place for education and such? I have looked everywhere to get the rating for BC Nursing schools but i couldnt find any information. Can you help me to get a better insight in which school to pick?
They currently have a 2 year waitlist!! Their program started a couple or maybe 3 years ago and they accepted applications but they do their waitlist by first come first served. So if you apply and you meet all the requirements first then you will be offered a seat in whichever intake you are accepted into. So 2 years from now will be Fall 2013.
I am over on the Island at Camosun doing their BSN program, so I don't know much about the programs on the lower mainland. But I was told by a faculty member here that some colleges that offer BSN programs offer an applied BSN while others offer an academic BSN. The difference being, if one wanted to get a master's degree eventually, the applied graduate would need to complete some upgrade type courses, while the academic graduate would not. I can't personally verify the authenticity of that info but I doubt my prof would be misled on that info. Something to look into as you choose your school, possibly.

I am not sure. It is hard to find concrete information about what is required to become a nurse practitioner. I found this department website for UNBC's nurse practitioner program. I don't know much at this point but I'm sure that if I make it through nursing school I will find some answers
Hello everyone,
Going to attend Vancouver Community College in BC - 1st Year BSN school (or Term 1). The class will start at the 1st week of Sept.,2011. Usually the 1st week is orientation. They will tell us what books to use, etc...
Can someone who has already taken Term 1 courses provide me the textbook information ? I have about 2 weeks time to order my books via Amazon.ca
Term 1 Courses at Vancouver Community Collge - BSN 1st Year Student
1) Determinants of Health NURS1163 --- Book ??
2) Introduction to Collaboration NURS 1161 --- Book ??
3) Introduction to Pathophysiology NURS 1162 --- Book ??
4) Nursing Clinical Practice 1 NURS 1164 --- Book ??
5) Nursing Pharmacotherapeutics 1 NURS 1160 --- Book ??
VCC bookstore could not provide what books are needed for the above courses.
All they can provide are books used for Term 1 - 3 which is quite disappointing.
Hope someone can provide the above information. Thank you very much.
Regards,
Michael
hi is anyone in the advanced entry program at VCC? Can you let me know how it is? Are the teachers good? How are the classes? Because I am a LPN and I am trying to decide which college to go to. I am stuck between langara or vcc. I want to do advanced entry and those are the only colleges I know of with advanced entry. I don't think I want to do the whole registered nursing program. I would rather get entered into the later term. Please let me know! I am really stressed.

Hi Kristin,
Just wondering if you can clarify something for me. Did you apply to VCC's BCN program 3 years before you got the acceptance? So the wait list is 3 years?
