Rate of pay

Hey there! I am new to HH nursing. I just started at an agency 3-4 weeks ago. I've been wondering, if it's not too private to ask, how much is your rate of pay in general? I live in Ohio and am getting paid 37.50/Hr per visit, whether it's a regular visit or a SOC visit. I also don't get paid for charting, driving time, or mileage. As far as on-call pay, it is 17.00/hr. Holidays and weekends are not paid at an extra rate. (no time and a half or double time). I'm beginning to feel like I'm working all the time for little to no pay. I see several patients a day but am not allowed to take my computer in the homes to chart so I have to do it at night when I get home. Generally, this takes 2-3 hours, depending if I have a SOC or a recert. Is this how it works everywhere? I'm just wondering if I'm being paid to little or do I just need to suck it up?

    Honestly it sounds to me like they are not paying you fairly. Are you a new nurse? Is this your first experience with home health?

    Your pay is too low. You should be paid more for routine visits and even more for SOC/ROC/RECRT/Oasis discharges. You should also get paid for mileage, extra for weekends, assignments after 3pm, travel time if he time between visits is huge, and required training in office.

    However, if you can do the work, hang in there for six months. Then find another company who will pay much you more and then negotiate with your current company. good luck.

    Thanks , I thought the pay was low. I was just excited to get a HH job. Although this is my first HH experience, I've been a RN for over 20 years with most of that time in critical care.

    $37.50 hourly or per visit? If you are paid hourly, you should be paid for all hours between when you arrive at your first house and when you leave your last one, including driving time. Mileage pay is not required by law but you can deduct $0.56/work related mile driven on your federal income tax. How are you not allowed to take your computer into clients' homes to chart? That's the whole point of point of care, that charting is done at the point of care.

    $37.50 per hour doesn't sound like a terrible rate to me, IF you're being paid for an 8 hour day. That's more than I made as a supervisor in home health. $17.00/hr for on call sounds good to me too, I used to get $75/day.

    If it's per visit, it is definitely too low. There should be a pay differential between routine visits and SOC/ROC. I don't remember how much we paid our on call. Definitely got paid mileage. Also, not taking the computer into the home is just stupid in my opinion. What is their rationale for that?
