Hello everyone!
I was looking into Rasmussen College in Fort Myers, Florida. I was wondering if there was anyone who has attended or currently attending Rasmussen at the Fort Myers campus? What were/are your thoughts on the program? Since I already have a B.S. in Exercise Science, I was looking at doing the A-BSN, Second Degree option. I have already attended a Nursing Information Session with the school and it seems like a great opportunity. Just looking to get more insight about the program from people who have gone through it.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I do not know if Rasmussen graduates find jobs more easily than FSW graduates. That is a statistic I am not privy to, but I can tell you that my instructor told me the most recent graduating class of BSN students all had jobs lined up before graduation.

Thank you, Lulu! Yeah, one of the reasons I started this blog was because there wasn’t a lot of information out there about Rasmussen.
Update time!
I am now in the middle of Week 8 of my 4th quarter at Rasmussen College in Fort Myers, Florida.
This week I have already taken two exams: Adult Care - Chronic Exam #2 and the proctored Mental Health ATI. The good news is I passed both!
For my Chronic exam, I scored an 83%. Not amazing, but not horrible either. I scored right in the middle of the pack. We were given a concept guide for this exam which listed headings of sections in the book from which the questions would be pulled. Since I did not read the book, I was not able to answer the super specific questions. And then I made some critical thinking mistakes on a few questions. But! Overall I am pretty happy with my performance. As I said, I did not really read the book. I studied using Picmonic, SketchyNursing, and NRSNG. Since I graduate in approximately 7 months, my studying method is more focused on preparing for the NCLEX and not for specific exams. I think I am also a bit jaded by working so hard last quarter only to miss out on an A by 0.1%. But I digress....
For my Mental Health ATI, I scored a 76.7%, which equates to a Level 2. I again primarily used Picmonic, SketchyNursing, and NRSNG to study for this exam. I did take the ATI assessments in the RN Learning System 3.0 and both practice exams. I only took the practice exams once each and then ran through their respective focused reviews in the ATI book, which are short little snippets from the chapter a particular question came from. I hope that makes sense. ?
Anyhow, my points is not to boast that I didn't read the books. My point is to let you all know how effective Picmonic, SketchyNursing, and NRSNG are as resources for nursing school! They make complex concepts simple and easy to remember and provide a ton of practice questions and other resources (cheat sheets, care plans, pictures, mnemonics, etc.). They have also saved me a ton of time. I have been able to balance out this quarter with spending more time with my family, even with two clinical days per week on top of lecture and lab and fluff assignments.
I currently sit with B's in all of my classes, which I am content with considering the amount of material we are covering, the balance I have brought to my personal life, and going into this quarter with a respectable 3.63 GPA.
I still have two exams to take over the next 4 days: Mental Health Exam #2 and proctored (practice) MedSurg ATI. The MedSurg ATI is not an official ATI because we do not take that until our last quarter (sometime in April, I believe), and this practice ATI does not count for a grade. That being said, I still want to do well. I want to know that all of this crazy studying I have been doing over the last two quarters has paid off, ya know?
Well, that is all I have for today! I hope everyone out there is crushing it, and until next time... Happy nursing!

Thanks!
I have never had to dissect any animals or handle any dead animals during nursing school. In my anatomy and physiology classes (at a different university), we did work with cadavers. We did not dissect them, but we did get to look at them and I think we got to touch them, as well.
Hi! So I am just finishing up in the first quarter of the ABSN program! I am the start of the new curriculum! I just read through your thread and it has really provided insight on the program because we have not really been given a lot of information. The instructors do not really know the schedule of the new curriculum so the 14 of us have kind of been lost. We start clinical next quarter and have 3 days on campus and 2 different clinical. One of the nursing care of older adults and the other is multidimensional care 1.
The thing I really struggled with was knowing the previous cohorts had online/open book exams and we do get anything. It seems like you are getting through it though! We also did not have ATIs this quarter which I thought was strange. Did rasmussen sign a contract with Lee Health? Our instructor did not know when we asked her!
Any more information you have on the program would be awesome! I would private message you but it says I cant haha so idk whats wrong with that.
Thank you!!
Hi , I have a question what are the requirements to get accepted in the nursing program at Rasmussen ? I’m new in the Naples area and I’m trying with FSW but the wait is very long? Plus all pre-reqs must be done before starting the program . Also wanted to say thank you for this blog very helpful information. ?

Hello LouFutureRN!!! Welcome to my blog!
For the ADN program at Rasmussen, I do not know if any pre-reqs are required to begin the program. They do require a TEAS score of 65 (last I heard), current BLS certification, immunizations, background check, and drug test. But Rasmussen will tell you what immunizations you need and help you to schedule your background check and drug test. For the BSN program, you don't necessarily need a previous degree to begin, but you do need a certain number of college credits. When I had enrolled, you could begin certain nursing classes while taking A&P 1 and 2 and Microbiology. They recently changed the curriculum, so I do not know if that has changed at all.
I would recommend reaching out to Rasmussen to speak with a program manager. My program manager was Nikki, and she was awesome! They also have information sessions you can attend to get more information about the various paths, requirements for each, and the cost of tuition. That is what I did. I attended an information session and then enrolled right after. I knew Rasmussen was the school for me once I got out of that nursing information session.
I hope this helps! Don't hesitate to reach out with any more questions if you think of something else.

Hi, I didn’t know FSW has a long wait. I am going to FSW to finish some pre requisites and then might go to Rasmussen. So I can save some money.

It really depends on the campus you apply to. The main campus (Lee) gets the most applications for FSW, I believe. Charlotte and Collier do not get as many, but the number of seats for any of the three campuses is very limited. If you look at their most recent application profile (Fall 2019), they received 430 applications and only accepted 161 (151 matriculated). For traditional students, Lee and Collier had 30 students each and Charlotte had 26. For the ANEW program (nights and weekends), they had 24 at each campus.
