trauma, the more you post, the more i am thoroughly convinced that you are a natural born preceptor, sent from nh (nurse's heaven).

me thinks you've found your calling.

Thanks Leslie. I talked to my unit educator the other day, she said that they are trying to put me into more of a leadership role so that I can eventually precept. I'm hoping its not anytime soon though, I still feel like I don't have enough experience in the unit.

I got some compliments from two of the docs I work with, one gave me a hug last night and they both said I'm doing a good job and I'm one of the best nurses on the unit.

I'm sitting here right now deciding if I want to go into work tonight or take it off. Need opinions please. Should I go in or no? lol.

Anyhow, I just want to thank everyone for the input and letting me vent. I've just needed to let it go.

i'm sensing there may be a bit of 'workaholic' in you.

if you can enjoy your time off, i say stay home.

if you can't, well then, there you go.

i'm very happy to learn your employer is molding you in leadership roles.

obviously they see what i feel.

i'm telling you trauma, with or w/o confidence, you have what it takes (and more!!!) to excel as a preceptor.

start really believing in that and yourself.

and another hug/noogie from a long time fan.:yeah:

I ended up calling in, only after himming and hawing about it. LOL. I am a bit of a workaholic I think. I made myself stop picking up extra shifts for about three months. Partly because I'm trying to make it look like I don't make as much money so the bank would let me short sale and partly because I was working way too much. Thanks for all the encouragement Leslie. I think it will still be a while before they ask me to precept but I definately will do it when it's my time.

If it is any consolation, I called in today too (I'm day shift) . :) I had a great day. Relaxed, relaxed, layed around, watched Big Love, and relaxed some more. :)

I think every once in a while we need to take what I call a "mental health" day. Tonight is mine. I didn't go back to sleep after calling in. I'm cleaning up around my condo, sorting my mail and I'm going to work out later. I'm off until Friday too. I feel a bit better. I'm just wondering if the side effects of my birth control pills are kicking in, been all sad and wanting to cry but I think it's just because of this past weekend. Oh well, que sera sera.

I'm glad you had a good day off. When do you have to go back to work.

Well, I have one day to work tomorrow and then I'm off until saturday. I might as well go in tomorrow, I am feeling a little better and I DO need the money. I needed this day off, and I don't care if they're mad at me for calling in. I made sure there was enough staff before I decided to stay home,, and there was enough staff. So... they just had to go one day without me. guess I'll see tomorrow how that went. I'm sure they did fine... and now I feel better!

I am glad you took the night off, maybe that is just want the doctor ordered. :)
