Have you witness a resident verbally discriminating a coworker? How pathetic that its still lives in the minds of our elderly.

I had an elderly Alz lady who would go ballistic if the agency would send anybody black or dark skinned. It stumped the family for along time becuase this lady was never like that when young, lived/worked in a interracial setting, etc. It turned out that at one time she had a caregiver who had been abusive to her. Well to a Alz damaged mind, anybody who looked like that caregiver was the enemy. So, maybe with the more confused/demented residents this may be part of what is going on. Beyond that, I never have had any of my pts say overtly racist things.
