"Traditional" private colleges offering BSN?

Published

Hello everyone :) Happy TUESDAY! :yeah: LOL. I guess I've got a lot of energy right now.

Anyway, I am doing some research right now but having trouble finding the info I want...I was wondering if anyone knows of, or has/is attending a more "traditional" private college that offers a BSN?

By traditional, I mean, not UofP, Kaplan, ITT Tech, Chamberlain, etc. I am looking at colleges that offer the more private-college atmosphere, just as an example, something like the Seven Sisters schools.

Any input appreciated :)

I chose a private college for the reasons already listed. It is about 26K a year and about 18 of that is covered in financial aid, the "free" kind, the school has been very generous with my financial aid package. My student loans are only about 7,000 a year and since they are both federal loans, one of them I don't have to pay the interest on, the other you can pay just the interest as you go along so you don't have to pay the interest after you graduate.

I did do a year at a public college to save money on some of the pre-reqs but if I would have stayed at that school, I probably would have been on a waiting list or waiting around for another year. At the school I'm at now I got in on my first try, they have one of the highest pass rates in the state for BSN's and they have small class sizes. Nursing lectures have 35 students, labs have 15 and clinicals have 10 or less. At one of the public colleges here, all 150 students take one lecture class and I just don't like that kind of thing, but that's just me.

So when I graduate I'll have around 30K in student loans which is fine with me seeing as my school cost about 100+ for the 4 year BSN.

To the OP: It would be a lot easier if we knew what state you live in. For example NYU is a private university and not a "career/tech" kind of college and there are plenty of these in every state.

I attended a seven sister school for my first degree (amazing experience btw) but as far as I am aware, none of them has a college of nursing. There are absolutely private colleges (not commercial institutions) that have nursing programs. In the northeast, the first program that comes to mind is BC.

Doesn't Yale have a nursing program?

I'm no longer in CT and couldn't recall if Yale had an undergrad nursing program. When we roadtripped to Yale back in the day, we weren't looking for nursing students. ;)

Not for a undergrad they don't, they only offer Master's degrees and up.

Several of the Ivies have nursing programs (but not any of the Seven Sisters schools, AFAIK).
