I can't believe she didnt give the job a chance! She could have at least tried it out and seen if it worked...what an amazing job offer!

Did anyone else get really offended by what the husband had to say at the end when the mom was trying to decide if she should accept the offer? The Dad stated something like, I thought she would just take a job being a receptionist for the church or something, not this. As in if she wanted to work that is what she should do, and not flight nursing!! What is she going to do when the Dad meets a sweet young thing and leaves his wife. Then she won't have any job skills to fall back on. This served as a reminder to me to never let my clinical skills elapse!! At least one shift a week! Too much hard work and effort goes into acquiring these skills and it looked as if it was pretty difficult for her to get back into the swing of things.

Me too! I was so disgusted with the dad. The young boy was obviously upset with the offer, but he's a kid and that's understood. But what a self-absorbed a-hole of a husband! You could see on the woman's face that she wanted to try it, and if they had encouraged her to give it a try, she would have been over the moon.
The balance between having your own career and taking care of a family is so tough; I can't imagine being married to someone who squashes my dreams. This poor woman is another example of mothers/wives who give up themselves, not just their time, job, and income, but their actual self, their identity, to raise a family.
Personally, I think she should have taken the job, and her husband should have gone to work as a receptionist at the church.

i was actually flipping through the channels when i stumbled upon this episode, i loved it, kinda makes me wanna be a flight nurse, too bad i live in nyc, the only helicopters here are news and police choppers! i was too bad that she decided to choose to stay at home over taking the opportunity to be a flight nurse, she was doing so well! i thought she should've atleast took the opportunity and see how it worked out for a while, let her husband stay home for a while, but since i'm not a mother or a wife maybe i cant relate!! great show!
i just had another thought i understand a mother wanting to stay at home and take care of her children but i do also believe a woman needs and identity outside of being a ''mother'' i dont see what is wrong with working and having children??! my mother worked and me and my brothers and plenty of children across the nation grow up normally and even learn some independence in it all! i had a friend who was 16 with a 19year old sister and their mother was still at home no job! i just thought she was lazy! while the woman on the show has an obligation to her kids, the children should be made to understand the thier mommy needs to do adult things too! why cant dad stay at home for a bit! whats the point of spending 4+ years in college to give it all up, you might as well just start your career after you have kids!! nursing is so flexible, cant she find something! raising 4 kids is alot! she needs something on the side for herself and the flight nursing was such a great opportunity! i just cant relate, i cant see myself giving up the career i love completely and taking care of kids 24/7 while dad just saunters in and out! maybe i'm just too young, i just dont see why a women cant work and raise a family!, i never want to be ''just'' a stay at home mom! oprah actually had a show on this topic http://www.oprah.com/money/jeanchatzky/groups/guide/guide_balance.jhtml
