"Are you related to an employee at this facility?"

Published

I am filling out applications and some of them ask this question, as well as the name of the employee. Does anyone know if there is a particular reason why this is asked? Can it help or hurt the applicant? Thanks in advance!

I agree , Cali, in a perfect world. The place had such weak boundaries, poorly enforced polocies, and incompetent managers who just chose to look the other way.......but it was the underlying mantra of enabling and taking care of the weak ones within the work place.

Strange that to some extent I have found this to be true of every home health agency I have worked for. Maybe I would see it differently if I were the object of some of the favorable treatment by management, but I am always on the bad end of the stick.

In theory, it is supposed to prevent nepotism. In reality, (in my area, at least) it serves to increase nepotism. True story.

Yup, it's all relative.
