Quitting my CNA job

Hey everyone. I currently work as a CNA in an assisted living facility, and I am planning on going in tomorrow to give my notice. Do these kind of places usually require you to type up a resignation letter, or just tell them that you're leaving? The place that I work at is pretty small...

Also, I feel kind of bad, but I'm technically not giving a FULL two weeks notice. The reason why I'm leaving is because I'm going into a completely different field altogether (dental hygiene) and I just found out I got a job working in a dentist office starting Tuesday April 1st. So the last day I would technically be able to work is Monday the 31st, but I'm not scheduled on that day (the last day I'm scheduled is Friday the 28th). Is this bad?

Congrats on the new job! Ideally 2 weeks is a considerate time to give, but since you don't have that much time telling them asap is the right thing to do. I'd go to your director and verbally state that you are putting in your notice and why.

I would type something up just to cover my bum. If it's in writing, they can't deny you didn't give notice.

They are probably used to this. Giving notice to them may be more than most people do when they leave. Most places will be happy that you found something that you want to do.

Its great that you will be starting a new job.I wish you the best of luck. It shows great consideration on your part to notify them in advance in the first place, because many people just up and leave. If you state the circumstances of why it has to be less than two weeks I am sure they'll understand. When leaving an old job I had I even offered to work on a per diem basis. You know to try to keep the doors open to return if i had to. I don't know if this is feasible for you but hey you never know. Leaving that option open may be seen positively by them and, reflect better on you. Well anyway, good luck to you.
