There are two testing dates to take the TEAS in December. I think there's more in January. I was planning on taking it in December but I started a new job, lots of homework, and been busy. I got the ATI official study guide from the college's library but only could have it for a week and it's due back Wednesday. I haven't studied at all. I'm so nervous for this test because it's really important. It gets me into nursing school! I was looking on amazon, eBay, Barnes and Noble looking to see what good study materials are (and cheap!) I don't want to buy the ATI for 40 to 50 dollars. What books really helped you to prepare/study? Should I wait until January? And what's it like to not use a calculator? I'm so nervous! Thanks in advance! :)

Remember this test can make or break your shot at nursing school. Not having a calculator really wasn't all that bad, the study manual had tougher problems than the actual test. Best of luck to you!

I highly recommend buying the ATI manual. It helped me to score in the 98th percentile. The math was easier on the test than it was in the study guide. I know you don't want to spend the money on it, but it was well worth it.

I brought the ATI study guide for $25 on amazon. I have gotten a few sources over a period of time. I have McGraw Hills 5 practice test book also Secrets of the TEAS in math and science. I also have a script to mathtutordvd.com. hopefully it pays off I have my TEAS in a little over 1 week . I been out of school for 7 years! Nov 27 I'm a bucket of nerves! If I don't do too good ill retake it in January. GOOD Luck!
Also look at youtube, and khanacademy.com as some cost free options.
Thank you! I did check out the ATI test booklet but I do have to return it tomorrow, and I have barely used it. I am going to search around on amazon and look for a decent price of the ATI study guide. Is that really the best to use? I want to do good of course :) I saw on amazon there's secrets to the TEAS, the McGraw hills 5 practice tests book...would either one of those two be just as good or better than the ATI? Or should I stick to getting the ATI study guide manual?
And thanks Cynt87, I did check out kahnacademy.com and good luck to yourself as well!

Renew your rental of the book. There's no other book that comes remotely close.

I studied the ATI book, everything that was on my test was introduced in that book. I also had to get other books to go in depth with the science. I had McGraw, Secrets, Idiots, Princeton, other biology and chemistry books, (*My fav out of these were McGraw and Idiots*) but ATI is the key and these books were supplements and helped to expand on the subjects that ATI introduced.
Best of luck to you and Cynt87! You guys can do it!!

Thank you! By the way, what McGraw Hill book did you use? I saw there's one with 5 TEAS practice tests and another that has like 8 nursing entrance exams. I was looking towards the 8, any one have it? Is it worth it? And does it have more to it than just the practice tests? Thanks again!
I have the 5 teas practice test one. Its just the tests but has full descriptions on the answers. It comes in handy for more practice as the ATI one has 5 tests to practice too. The 8 test book is geared towards all nursing exams if I'm not mistaken. Like TEAS, HESI ect.
I have McGraw Nursing School Entrance Exam, and 5 Teas.... I did not once look at the 5 Teas. If you have time do look at it and take many practice test.
