Can a L.V.N obtain ACLS and PALS??? :nurse:

Specializes in 10.

I am not a LPN, but I know for a fact that LPNS can get both certifications. A LPN I work with was required to get PALS because she was working home care with a peds patient, and the other LPN I know has both because the hospital she worked in required her to have ACLS and she worked in the NICU.

Specializes in Pediatrics.

I was able to get ACLS while a nursing student. You can go through the class, but in a code situation know what your scope of practice is.

Specializes in Trauma Surgical ICU.

They can in my state but no matter if they are certified or not, they can not push meds at all through an IV..I agree with above, know your states scope of practice..

Even if you can't push meds, it is still a good thing to know.

Specializes in Hospice. Worked ER, Med-Surg, ICU & ALF-Dementia.

I believe so. I took my BLS and ACLS and not all the people there are healthcare pros, though most are. They really do not ask you what profession are you in.

Specializes in Med-Surg, Psych, Tele, ICU.

They certainly can. Even if you cannot push meds or intubate a patient, it gives you the confidence to remain level headed during a code. Good Luck!!
