I see lots of posts about passing or failing with 75 questions, just curious what the stats are. I would like to think that nursing school prepares us enough that those who get 75 are mostly passing?

Dalia, you may want to look into your understanding of the questions and words. Your posts are very confusing with this short language and this may be affecting you during test time. Please go over questions with a person who is great in English and understanding words. Good luck and I will continue to pray for your success.

Ok, color me dumb.............whats SATA questions? :banghead:

I took my NCLEX today...75 questions!!! Of course I'm still freaking out though! That sucker was hard  For all the endless hours I put in studying, it seemed to not even matter. Everything was on infection control and weird pharm questions. I don't think I did so horribly that I failed it in 75 questions but I was no super star either. My school makes us take an exit comprehensive Hesi test with an 87% or higher to pass out of our nursing program and I rocked that with almost a 93%!!!! The Hesi was nothing like the boards :crying2: . I'm sooooooooooooo nervous! And BTW to those who were wondering in previous posts, SATA = Select All That Apply. Yeah, I had at least 15 of those puppies.

took the damn test 8am today, boy i ve not felt that awful during an exam like i did today. i was an above average student in school and its not like i didnt prepare for the exam. i spent months studying and it appears like the computer wasnt interested in the stuff that i was 100% sure about. i had tons of prioritising, infection control, a few select all that apply, five or six pharm, 2 or 3 drug calculations and a load of other respiratory junk. what unsettled me most was that for the prioritising qs, the responses were almost all top priority issues and i just could pin the best answer and be totally sure of it even after slimming the options down to 2. i did know about the kaplan strategies for selecting the correct answer and or eliminating similar options but i just found the test to be really hard.

to make matters worse, the computer stopped at 75 questions . i was hoping i d get a chance to prove to the machine that i knew my stuff, but no it shut me off. i feel as though i failed but just reading the comments on this site made me feel a bit better.that exam wore me out man, i feel like i ve just run a marathon .i m generally not an anxious person but i cant help worrying about it. i m just gonna follow most of the posted advice and try to forget about it, hard as it is,go out over the weekend , get a few drinks down and then check my results next week.

thanks for all your comments of encouragement and good luck to all those waiting for their results and them taking their tests.

WHAT WOULD YOU ALL SUGGEST HELPED YOU STUDY THE BEST FOR YOUR NCLEX??? ANY ADVICE WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.

I would say you have nothing to worry about. Your run down on the types of questions you got sounds just like mine as best I recal. I am not a good strategist but am generally a good test taker. When the darn machine shut down at 75, I wanted to shake the monitor and beg it for more questions! I would have only been willing to "bet money" on one question in the whole test that I could remember. Three days later, much to my surprise I passed and I predict you will too. My instructors told me that if the questions got harder and harder that was a very good sign and mine did, it sounds as if yours did too. Don't worry, check out the unofficial score and get the worry over and the celebration on.

i appreciate your response, that makes me feel so much better. i m however still going to have a few drinks and then check my results on monday and hopefully i ll have something to smile about next week.

here s one thing i didnt mention in my posting, my first q was,' how would you position a patient after a liver biopsy?' and as i answered this one, i was smiling inside coz i worked in liver transplant and knew the answer to this one no problems. i also know from my studying that this is an analysis type of question so yes, you could say my test just started of at the mid difficult level.

and then they got harder and harder but thats history now.

am happy for you and once again thanks.

well, i checked out my results today and i failed!cant believe i failed at 75 qs.but i seem to know why now.

i mainly used the saunders comprehensive study review (which is a very user friendly book but my take now is that their format of questioning is not as deep and does not challenge your critical thinking skills to the maximum, which should be the case coz the actual nclex does that, you may feel confident answering their (saunders)questions but then if you take say mosby;s questions or kaplan, you ll think that the latter are more challenging).so yeah, saunders is a good reference when it comes to those hard to understand issues but as for their questions, forget it coz you ll find yourself in exactly the same situation as mine. i was averaging 70-75% using the saunders qs so naturally i thought i had a chance, but if you read my earlier posting, i knew i was failing as i was sitting behind that computer.

so its back to studying again, but the only plus this time is i know i ll not get the same questions that i got last time.i could take that test all over again and still fail it, i m telling you that it was really hard.

i m gonna add vipra med to my study aids(was advised to use one study review course last time, now know i need more than just saunders).i d ve joined the kaplan study class but cant afford to at this moment.

i ve not been that upset however, maybe its coz i 'already knew' i d failed.i m just gonna take it easy for a few days, make a restudy plan and get back to work.

good luck to those trying to pass this exam.

This post brings back so many bad memories of all-nighters studying!!! But 75 questions was all it took to pass!:)

Sheune, I am so sorry. I just knew you had passed. Your plan to take it easy for a whle and then hit it hard is a good one, but don't wait too long to retake it. I would also advise you attend a prep class for the NCLEX. Our school put us all through a mandetory one and I believe it helped. I also did about 3000 prep questions before taking mine. One of the best nurse managers I ever me told me that she failed the NCLEX first go around, so keep your chin up.

many thanks for your words of comfort.

yeah, i m just gonna go thru the feeling bad process for a few days and get back to my studying. the other plus

is i still remember a lot of stuff, the stuff i wasnt asked about.

i d ve joined kaplan s review prep but cant afford it right now and i didnt go to college here so that makes it even

more difficult to find a group to study with.

i believe i m already on my way to feeling better about the whole thing, i just need a few more days and i ll be

fine.

Graduated in Feb. took the exam May 19th. Studied using Saunders 4th ed. and the Prioritization and Delegation book. Did 2000+ questions. Reviewed each question making sure not to skip over the ones I got right. I believed the rationals is what helped me get through this. I also used NCSBN. I finished the exam in 1hr 20min. and shut off at 75q's. I had 9 SATA's no math and of course a ton of prioritization-delegation, meds that I have never heard of, and a lot of infection control. Remember your ABC's. Of course I thought I failed. I was in misery wainting to see if my name would come up on the BRN. I checked on Fri. and with hands shaking and tears in my eyes I seen my name with my dream RN :heartbeat after it. I want to wish all the future NCLEX takers good luck.
