if yes, do you feel it benefited you during school?

if no, do you wish you had the experience before entering school?

2) did you work during lpn school? how many hours a week did you work and what was your occupation?

3) how many lpn schools did you apply to, and did you get in on your first try?

thank you in advance!! :thankya:

yes, i was a cna before beginning lpn school and for several years before that was a pharmacy technician (so beneficial for pharm class! :) )

if yes, do you feel it benefited you during school?

i think it was immensely helpful to have a cna background.

i worked weekends only during school as a cna in a ltc facility. that was absolutely all i could handle at the time.

1) were you a cna before you started lpn school, or did you have any backround working in healthcare beforehand?

i was a cna, unit clerk, and watched telemetry monitors.

if yes, do you feel it benefited you during school?

yes, as a unit clerk, i learned what tests go with what meds, and diagnosises all seemed to come together. cna, i learned the right way and wrong way of patient care, learned to treat people as you want to be treated and cared for.

2) did you work during lpn school? how many hours a week did you work and what was your occupation?

i worked 2 jobs while in nursing school, my employer paid for my lpn school, i was a unit clerk. got a job as cna, in nursing home, on weekend off d/t i felt i was lacking in patient care, and assessment. so i was basically working 60/hr a week, and school full time.

3) how many lpn schools did you apply to, and did you get in on your first try?

i only applied to one.

1. Yes I was a CNA first. I think it helped a some, especially in that first semester of clinicals in the nursing home. I didn't have that intial shock that some students did, it also helped prepare me on how to interact with elderly residents/patients.

2. I didn't work

3. Just the one I went to

yes i started out a cna and worked as one for a few years, also became a cma and worked for 2 years,

i absolutely think it helped me with nursing school.

i did work while i was in nursing school about 16 hours a week as a phlebotomist , and it helped too. i loved doing phlebotomy and it also helped me land my first job in a clinic as a nurse.

i think my entire background helped out.

i was also married and had 3 children about a year old, the other 2yr and the other was about 8 at the time. i had a wonderful husband who would take our kids out on the weekend to something fun while i stayed home and studied, i couldn't have done it without him.

i also graduated top of my class with honors. i only applied to one school and got in ( a community college.

Specializes in Geriatrics.
3. I only applied to one and it was thru distance education and was accepted first time around. I was an 100% online student except for testing out of skills and doing clinicals.

You did your LPN schooling on-line? Is there anyway you can give me the website link or send me any info regarding this school? Thanks!
