LPNs/LVNs: What's Your Specialty?
I worked a few years in med/surg and now I'm in oncology and I love it.

Questions for LPN's
No I was never a CNA before nursing school. I think I got enough experience in clinicals. I worked part time during school. I applied to only one school and luckily got in.

First day in school for LPN....
Congrats on working on your LPN. Don't let other people knock you down. You are doing what you need to do for yourself. LPN's can get jobs. Hang in there.

Young Nurses
I was 21 when I first became a nurse. It does seem like there are more and more younger nurses out there.

How do I know if this is right for me???
I didn't know that I wanted to be an LPN. It sounded interesting so I gave schooling a shot and ended up liking what I do. No, it's not going to be too hard to handle and for all the years of CNA you have behind you I'm sure it's going to be a lot easier! You are not too old! I went to LPN school with some 60 year olds. No joke! If you enjoy healthcare, but are sick of CNA work I would go for nursing. At least try it. If you don't like nursing in long term care you can always switch to a different facility. Hospital nursing and nursing home nursing are totally different! Congratulations on all those years in healthcare. Hope this helps a little.

Have you taken the LPN Board Exam??!!
The advice that my instructors gave me at the beginning of my classes were, "Pay attention and learn!" They said if you do that then you shouldn't have a problem because there is no easy way to study for the NCLEX. In fact, I tried to study for it also and one question that I had studied ended up being on there. Try to stay relaxed! You will do fine! Good luck!

Malpractice Insurance?
I've been a nurse for almost 2 years now and I just applied for malpractice insurance through NSO. I should have done it a long time ago though.

New ortho nurse
Hello! I am an LPN and I worked on an ortho/neuro floor for a year. I really enjoyed it. There is a lot to learn and it's very interesting. At least I thought so. Good luck!

no abduction pillow w/ THR
When I worked on an ortho/neuro floor not every doctor would order an abductor pillow post op THR. I think they based it on if the patient was alert and oriented enough to understand not to cross their legs.
