265 Questions Later = new mi_rn

Hello :) I have been following this site all through nursing school. Now that I am done with school I thought I would share my story.

I exited our ADN program after I finished the LPN portion. I had to exit as I had not fulfilled the chemistry requirement for the RN portion. I was devastated and felt inadequate as all my nursing friends advanced and I didn't. I immediately got back on the waitlist and enrolled in a chem class. Eight months after finishing my LPN course I decided to take the PN NCLEX not knowing how long I would have to wait to re-enter the RN program. I waited a year and a half before I was invited back into the program. After this break between LPN and RN I was recharged and ready to go. I enjoyed school again and learned so much. I truly believe this time off was the best thing that could have happened for my education.

PN NCLEX - I studied for a hour or so everyday or two weeks using exam cram and kaplan q bank. I passed with 117 questions. I left feeling confident as I felt our nursing school exams were more difficult. I of course could not wait for 48 hours to receive my "unofficial" results and tried the Pearson Vue "trick" I got the good pop up and later learned I passed!

RN NCLEX - We used ATI as part of our program through school. We took the ATI predictor and I scored a 96% chance of passing the NCLEX on the first try. We graduated school on July 31, I received my ATT on Aug 12 and tested on Aug 29th. Two weeks before my NCLEX I studied LaCharity PDA ( I finished chapters 1-11) and Kaplan 2013-2014. I read through Kaplans test strategies and took the test on the CD (61%).

I was nervous going into the exam. My classmates who had already taken the exam all passed so far; most with only 75 qestions.

I got to #75, 111, 162, 190, 213, 240, finally four hours later #265! This was a horrible feeling. Many many many SATA, sequential ordering, hot spots; I thought for sure I failed. After getting home I tried re-registering and got the good pop up once again. This was it; it was my final test before officially becoming an RN I wasn't going to beleive it until I got my results. Quick results this morning showed I PASSED!!!!

Good luck to all those waiting to take the exam!
