Are you unemployed and have had difficulty securing employment? Do you have dependent children? Do you received SNAP or TANF benefits? Are you at or below 250% of the federal poverty line?
WIA rarely pays for a potential candidate once the student already enrolled in school and paid fees. It's designed to return unemployed and underemployed workers to the workforce with priority to those with dependent children & receiving assistance. You must demonstrate academic competency, your program must be training for an in demand career and be completed in less than 12 months.

WIA programs do pay for LVN school based on the WIA's school listing. So the first thing is to find out if your school is on their list.It is a process and advise to start the WIA application process 6 months before starting the lvn program. i did hear that you can not be in the program before starting the WIA application process, but i suggest you contact the program and speak to someone. I have been in the WIA program for two months and see an adviser once a month. I have to attend workshops (resume, etc) and apply for jobs on their job website even if I need school training funds. You need to show that you can not find a job as a CNA/etc and is the main reason why you need the job training funds for the lvn school. PS
I am on unemployment and do not have a degree. I've heard that if you have a past college degree that you do not qualify, etc. So call the one stop center for more detail information.
I've never heard of WIA ever granting funds to a student already in school.
Like the PP most start the process 3-6 months in advance and often before applying to school

That is exactly what I'm doing now. The program starts end of January 2015 and I enrolled to the WIA program end of June 2014.

WIA can grant as a SIP (Self initiated participant), but you have to have already been getting welfare before you started school. You can't quit working and get WIA for am existing activity, at least in my state and county.

I started wia after my first semester of nursing school. I Proved that my parents paid for the first semester. And wia agreed to pay for the rest. And my program lasted for over a year. I just had to fit it under the budget.
