hi! im new here. i just want to ask about my current status right now. im graduating next year and planning to work in new jersey.
i will be marrying my fiance novemeber next year after i take the local boards here. my fiance has an hb1 visa, a working visa. and he told me that upon our marriage i will automatically have an h4 visa, which is a wife of a hb1 visa holder.
im planning to take nclex when i get to new jersey. but i dont wanna be a bummer while i review. i would like to work and help out as well.
my question is can i find a job in relation to my field with my degree (local board passer) and kind of visa (h4)? what do institutions in new jersey require upon hiring a nurse? do i have to pass cgfns and nclex first before i get to work?
i hope you can provide me answers.
thank you and more power

you will get more answers if you post in the international nursing forum of this website.
h4 visa is a dependent visa (not only a wife of h1 gets h4 but all the dependents) of h1b. you can not work legally in the usa when you are on h4 visa.
njbon requires cgfns certificate for licensure by examination. if you want to work as an rn, the employers want to see that you are authorized to work in usa, and you are qualified for that post (that means you hold a valid current rn license in that state). but once u meet the requirement, you will find employers who will be willing to sponsor you visa (green card). you will go through adjustment of your visa status. you will get a work permit within 90 days of filing the adjustment of status petition..and can start working.

As stated by Starbin above, you cannot work on the H-4 visa at all. You can attend school with that visa, but nothing more.
You will need to go thru the green card process, but then your huband will also get a green card as well.
