I'm writing a thankyou letter for a position I just interviewed for. I know your generally supposed to send it within 24-48 hours after the interview, but I was one of the first to be interviewed and they will not be making a decision for 3-4 weeks. Would it be okay to wait a week to send it under these circumstances???
Thanks!

Prompt action shows you will be diligent and conscientious on the job, as well. My is don't put it off.
Also, keep it short and sweet. Thank you for the opportunity at the interview, express your genuine desire or opinion that this is a job you would really appreciate (I hope I will have the opportunity to contribute to...), please let me know if there is anything further that I should do, and I look forward to hearing from you. Don't lay it on too thick, and don't grovel.
Okay, that was more like :twocents:
Good luck!

I would! That will keep your name and thoughtfulness fresh in their mind when making their decision!
Great advice, thanks so much. I want to appear prompt, but I also am aware that a lot of people with be interviewing after me. So I think I will send it out in the next day or so. That way its not right away, but its still within a week. I hope thats okay. I really really want this position.
Thanks again

If possible, add something particular about the interview to help you stand out, i.e. " your hospital's mission to deliver compassionate care struck a chord with me."

another choice would be to thank them promptly, then in another 2 weeks send a short note to let them know you are still available and interested in the position (if you indeed are at that time).
