I am currently have NM license and i want to endorse it to CA, there is an additional requirement for international graduate that you a need a proof of passage needed to submit and i don't know what form i will use or i'll just provide a letter to my current state and then they will send it to CA. i know that there is a fee for this because NM will forward this proof to CA but any idea how much this will be? and im looking at nursys site right now, is it better to go online or send my application thru mail? kinda lost...

im looking at it this way:

>endorsement application = BON CA

>license verification = BON NM

>additional passage proof = ???

>Nursys verification form = BON NM or NCSBN?

i'm lost totally on their instruction regarding that verification of license and nursys form.

Where abouts are you in your process? I would not suggest endorsing until you know you are on your way as with current retrogression looking at over 5 years. Ca will not I think give you a license until you have a SSN which you will not get until in the US and can prove you have legal work visa

Ok. I have a SSN thou.

NM is under the Nursys system, you have to sign up with them and they will provide the verification of your license to CA.

NM will not fill out any forms for you for this. The cost is about $30 US for a certain length of time.

Ok, that's clear. Will do that. But what is that proof of passage (passing) for international graduates that CA is requiring? is the license verification form of CA that i need to submit to NM?

you don't have to send the license verification anymore to nm. that is what suzanne has been saying and what is said in nm's website. they do not send verification of licenses manually anymore to other bon/brns as they are part of nursys and this will do that for them.

that is the very point of being under nursys. they only send manual license verifications straight from them on certain exemptions such as if it is to be sent to cgfns.

you only need to go on-line to nursys and that's it. ca brn accepts license verification from nursys. license verification from another state is already proof of having passed the nclex.

see: http://www.dca.ca.gov/proflic/rns_endorse.htm

as far as obtaining additional proof of passage of nclex coming from the bon you originally applied for licesure, you have to contact nm for that and explain to them that aside from license verification, ca brn is requiring an additional proof coming directly from them. you may attach the instructions from ca brn that says so (page 5 in the endorsement application packet). usually, a license verification is all that is needed but it seems ca brn is becoming strict in regards to international graduates. nm bon may also not yet be fully aware of this as well as a simple license verification is usually enough with most.

CA normally accepts the Nursys verification and that is all that is needed and what has been needed in the past, even for foreign grads. Have not heard of them requiring anything further than that.

Alright, so nursys is all i need to do for them to verify my license. you are a great help suzanne and lawrence. It's nice that we have this forum to help nurses. thank you so much.

You are quite welcome.

Hi, newbie here. I read the thread and I, too, have a question regarding that verification of passage that the California Board of Nursing has required. I am also a foreign graduate nurse but I have passed my NCLEX already and I'm registered in the state of Arizona. Right now I am residing in California and I want to transfer my license here, that's why I'm applying for licensure by endorsement. My question regarding the verification of passage is this: the CA Board of Nursing states "For international graduates: In addition to obtaining license verification from the state where you hold a current and active license, you must also obtain verification of passage of the appropriate licensing examination from the board of nursing where you took the examination (NCLEX-RN, SBTPE, or five-part

licensing examination in Canada)."

So I am licensed in the state of Arizona, but I took my NCLEX in Guam. Does that mean I will have to request for a verification of passage from the Board of Nursing in Guam? Is there like a form for this or do I just have to write a letter or something? I hope someone can help me out. THanks a lot!

CA requires that your transcripts from your nursing school be sent to them before they will issue a license to you.

You are not going to be transferring a license, you will continue to hold any licenses that you do have until they expire if you do not pay to renew them.

You are licensed in one state and one territory; CA is going to need verification from both of them that there were no issues with your license.

Ok, I understand about the transcripts from the nursing school, but I am a little confused about that verification of passage where the examination was taken. Coz I am licensed in AZ, but I took my NCLEX exam in Guam. Does that mean I will also have to ask for that "verification of passage" from the Board of Nursing in Guam??
