Hi
I'm planning to take my nclex exam in new York. And I graduated in Philippines. Now I'm in USA and applying for credential verification service in new York. I'm wondering when can I apply for my exam. Can I apply now while my papers is still in cgfns?
Thanks

OK, this question is more appropriate to the Nurse Registration forum so I have moved it there.
You can not apply to sit NCLEX until the BON gives their approval. CVS takes approx 6 months and then usually another couple of months once you have sent your application to NY BON so look at approx 6-8 months before you get permission to sit NCLEX

NY doesn't normally require a US SSN

I suggest you go to a local social secuity office and get a social security number that you write on your application i think. Just bring your passport and i94 paper.
Anyway I called cgfns. I asked them about USSN and they said its OK not to have one.
Thanks anyways. Appreciate it
Yeah, cgfns doesnt require it, but when you submit your app to NY BON, it has a spot to put SS number somewhere, same when i did my CES with cgfns. And get one not just for licensing, but just to have a social security number already, ahead of time. You'll need it in the future for a job application, banking, taxes and all. Since your in the US already, might as well get one sooner than later.
Depends what status they have in the US to whether a US SSN will be issued
True. She didn't mention her immigration status,.
