Question: PN bridge to RN with a repeated course

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hi,

I Graduated a PN program with a 3.2 GPA because I had failed and repeated Patho in the second semester of a PN program.

I understand Cent/Ryerson + UOIT do not accept repeated courses, which is incredibly frustrating. There are mentions of taking University electives to count as credits towards the application, but I am unsure how to go about this? if anyone has any experience and can share their recommendations.

Thank you

I did my pn through GBC and like you failed my second semester patho the first time through. I retook it that summer, passed, got a much better grade and continued on my pn program without any other failures. I was concerned this could prevent me from bridging. I applied to centennial and GBC to bridge. Centennial turned me down but GBC let me bridge. I failed the patho course in 2012 and started bringing in 2016. They never brought it up and I never mentioned it. I'm not sure if they let me in because I was a previous GBC student but I'd contact the admissions office. Schools have all kinds of rules listed but whether they follow them is another matter.

During the bridging program you had to get a minimum of 75% in four specific courses. I know people who got less than that and still went onto the Trent portion of the program.

Do you know anyone who completed the bridging program at GBC/trent who were previously in the BScN program?

Not that I was aware of.

I don't think you are able to transfer to the bridging program form BScN as you will be required to have a PN diploma and CNO license. However, I heard some schools allow you to transfer to the PN program from the BScN.

Is this refering to people who were in the BScN program and did not finish and want to go the bridging route?

I’m gonna take a guess that the poster means they completed the PN program but have previous BScN studies on their transcript. Many bridging programs do not take PN graduates who were previously in a BScN program. Cent/Ryerson is one of them.

Ohhh got you. I think as long as you have a PN diploma and CNO license it should be fine unless it says on the website you will not be accepted for previous BScN nursing studies.
