Hi, for class I have to ask a person who is not from my generation (I am 22), these two questions:
1). How do you define health?
2). What do you do to maintain your health?
I appreciate your answers! also, even if you are from my generation please feel free to answer anyway!

My guess is that you were assigned these questions with the hope that you would actually go out and interview someone face to face. The goal is to learn to interact with people not of your generation, and to pick up cues from body language and other nonverbals. Interviewing is a nursing skill, and you won't learn it by asking questions on the internet.
No she never specified we had to interview anyone face to face. Also this was assigned yesterday in class, I worked last night, it's due tomorrow, and I'm nannying all day today so I don't have anyone older I can interact with in the time it was assigned. I have a senior community health project and plenty of older adult assessments to do this semester so I'm not worried about not getting the chance to interact with people of another generation or not getting the opportunity to develop those nursing skills.

I'm 41. Gen X! Woot!
1. If I feel well, I'm probably healthy. If I don't feel well, I'm probably not healthy, with some exceptions. I cpuld be grieving. I could be going through a crisis. I could be healthy but I could be in an unhealthy relationship or environment.
2. If I'm being honest, I'm not that good at maintaining my health. I used to practice yoga, go outside, hike, exercise, meditate, eat lots of veggies to maintain my health.
Lately I've been in a funk and have been overeating, drinking too much alcohol and lazing around. These things make me feel good for the moment but have a long term effect of making me feel bad, so that's why I would say they are not healthy.
Hope that gives you some food for your assignment.
Thank you!

I'm 38.
1. Feeling well. I have a medical condition that brings pain and other issues, so I'll never be the textbook definition of "healthy" - but if I feel well, I define that as being my version of healthy.
2. I go to the gym at least 3 times a week and try to keep a balanced diet. I track my food and exercise to make sure I'm on track with my eating and weight. I do some meditation and yoga when I have the time, though I've been slacking a bit in that area.

1). How do you define health? The ability to move about freely without pain or the need for medication or devices.
2). What do you do to maintain your health? Exercise at least 4-5 times at the gym doing a little cardio and a lot more weight training. I eat fairly well lots of fruit and veggies, watch my weight although it's not where I'd like! I also have dogs that I walk, yard work etc.

I define health as a state of being where you both feel good and have the ability to do what you want without physical/mental limitations.
Right now, I simply try to eat a balanced diet and I walk at least 120 minutes a week. I'm sick now, but I also try to work out (primarily cardio) three times a week.
