what type of grades did you guys get in college? for those who are working abroad now as nurses, do they look at the type of grades you have or is it okay just as long as you passed the required exams? thanks...

When you said, "do they look at the types of grades you have", you mean the employers? I remember we had to have an authenticated transcript in addition to our diplomas with our applications. I assume that for someone to pass the licensing exams, she/he probably have decent grades.

If I am an employer, I will get someone with a decent grade and not just a PASSING GRADE . High grades shows intelligence, responsibility and perserverance that will be reflected in your personality.
thats for the ENTRY level / new grad level , if you are an experienced and recognized nurse, i dont think grades will matter anymore.
Best hospital in the philippines look for best nurses, atleast 80% in your board rating and a decent general average.
Usually, VERY FEW will get 1.75 and higher grades because nursing is a very hard course and most fo the teachers has a tendency to underrate a student because they are either insecure or have the HORNS effect or the tendency to underrate a student due to few mistakes or errors.

it depends upon the employer if they are satisfied with your grades. if you are applying for a job, apply as many as you can. im pretty much sure, you'll have your own place.so,try to relax and go, start submitting your papers. good luck.

Hi, i just joined this forum so I can post re your inquiry...
Here in US (from how I've observed) they don't really give that much importance if you graduated with honors or not. As long as you pass the boards and have your license, they will hire you.
We have a VERY BIG shortage of nurses here (will peak by 2010) that they don't really mind.
So, if you're planning to come and work here, just PASS the nclex and you're fine. Good Luck...

in my opinion, i guess they are not really particular with that.... if you just pass the CGFNS, NCLEX and other required exams, you'll be accepted... God bless to you.

Wow,Dervid. I feel so antiquated already. During my time which is a loooong, looooong time ago, a passing grade which is a 3 "tres"in any class ("subject") your first year will automatically kick you out of the program. But then again as I said, that was quite a while back.
Like I said previously, I still believe that in order for someone to pass the licensing exams here in the US, they should know their nursing and that means decent grades. I also agree that as long as one passes the board exams ( again, here in the US,) one will be able to get a job as long as you are not choosy.

I've worked in one of the biggest hospitals in the Philippines. As far as I can recall at that time they were only catering for applicants with 80 and above board rating. They also asked for ranking (this is where your hard-earned grades come into play).
Employment abroad requires you to pass exams and I doubt if they will be particular with your grades as long as you've completed the course.
thanks to everyone who replied. i asked coz i was only curious. i'm one of those middle-aged nursing students who also have kids so it's kinda hard to balance everything out. for those like me, you know about the school-aged college students who do nothing but miss class or not pay attention at all yet pass. very far from how i am and lately, all i've been really doing is study on most of my free time. i think i can do good on the exams like nclex and cg in the future. i guess i'm just too eager to join the rest of my family in the states...
just learned from my professor in soc2a or socio-anthropology with nursing perspective that in our class of 65 this semester, only 2 of us are passing right now... that's something else!
