Question for new grads: ANCC wait time for eligibility to test

Like you guys, I graduated 3-4 weeks ago and sent all the material in very soon after the degree was conferred. I still have not received the eligibility to test.

Anyone know approximate wait time? I left VM for the person who handled my file and also emailed but no response. I am starting to get anxious because I need to know time frame to tell potential employers. I won't be surprised that some new grads will lose job offer because ANCC and state board delay the process. Most jobs want to fill the openings asap and don't wait for new grads.

I understand that they are overwhelmed with the applications but there's got to be a way to handle things more efficiently.

Anyone got the eligibility to test date or know the time frame, please update the thread :)

PS. This is ANCC, not AANP

Last year I waited about one week for the okay to schedule my test. ANCC states it may take up to 8 weeks and, basically, they don't want to be contacted until that time has passed and a grad has not yet rec'd eligibility to test. One person who graduated with me sent her info in the same day I sent mine - she waited the full 8 weeks and had a difficult time getting a person on the phone who could give her information. Another of my fellow grads finally gave up and took the AANP test because she was on the verge of passing up a good job offer.

There seems to be little consistency.

My friend received her auth to test (via email) 3 days after she submitted her electronic application. I sent mine in on 5/16 and still haven't heard anything yet:-(

We graduated 5/4. I will say that she did submit her transcripts on the following Monday after graduation. I submitted everything on the week of the 16th.

Lovanurse, I think we hit the high peak period of application and they are probably overwhelmed. :(

ANCC is driving me insane! I wish they would at least contact me and say that they have received everything they needed from the university. A standard email after everything has been received isn't asking too much. Has anybody had any luck trying to contact them?

If AANP is accepted in your state and if AANP provides credential for your specialty, I would go ahead and apply for it as an back up.. especially if you have a job waiting or need to look for job soon. It is insane to wait for > 1 month just to take a test, not even close to the DEA and licensing process.

Graduated May 5, notified of eligibility to test on May 24. My test is scheduled (gulp) June 20th

How soon can you take the test after getting the eligibility letter? were the dates booked up? That's why you cannot take the test until June 20th?

I could take it right away. I just want to study a few weeks....you have a 3 month window if I remember. Plus, I am working full time as an RN - so I had to find time between work and "life" to take the exam! ;)

I am in no big hurry, that's for sure. The jobs out there in Florida aren't knocking my socks off with salary, LOL. I am kinda enjoying that 3 day work week right about now...I have a possible job in the works, they are waiting for me to test. I picked ANCC because Mayo Clinic requires this, and since I am in North Florida - I have more options in the future with Mayo if i take the ANCC.

Harmonizer, be aware that the availability of dates is more related to the Prometric testing center in your area than anything else. I live in Mississippi and could take my test the next day at 9am (since some classmates vocalized they couldn't get quick early morning dates). I have a feeling larger cities may have more spots filled, then again, I have no clue! Best of luck! I just passed my AANP!
