It's driving me nuts but my last question was about prioritizing patient care....2 of the possible answers I disregarded immediately but I was left with a post-op (I think 2 days)thyroidectomy patient. Who was complaining about the dressing feeling too tight, or a post-TURP 24 hours who had bright red blood in CBI tubing.....
I selected the thyroidectomy thinking about possible compromised airway....what do others think??? I cant eat or sleep as I feel like I ended so wishy-washy,actually the whole exam felt that way...

Hello! I feel your frusteration. I would have probably picked the thyroidectomy pt too. I recall a review question that said that the CBI is to flush out clots, but I'm not too sure about the 24 post wording. I feel awful about the test. So awful to where I start a new grad program tomorrow and feel like I shouldn't even be there. I live in a state that doesn't participate in quick results, so that adds to the frusteration even more. Anyways, keep your chin up. There's nothing we can do about the test now - it's all in the Board's hand, and only they know the answer.

Tough one. I think the thyroidectomy. My rationale is if the patient says the dressing feels tight then there may be swelling that could obstruct the airway. Goodluck!

I'm thinking the same way. I think you chose the right answer. Good luck and let us know how you did!

I definately think that you picked the right answer. If the dressing becomes too tight it can compromise the airway.

I think that you picked the right answer according to the ABC's. I took NCLEX a couple of weeks ago and got 120-125 questions and passed!! So, you probably did too. Good luck!!
