Hello all. I am an RN and I work on a med/surg/tele floor. June will be 1 year for me as a nurse. I am already at the point where I am hating my job and I am really interested in community health nursing. I am planning to stay at my current job until June for a few reasons, one is that I will have 1 year under my belt and the other is that I am getting married June 1st and I don't want to start a new job and have to tell my new employer that I will need a few weeks off as I already have the vacation time at my current job. Anyway...my question is when I am doing up my resume, how do I go about the references if I don't want to tell my current employer that I am looking around for something different. Since this has been my only nursing job? I have plenty of references from my past job(s), is it going to look bad that I do not have any references from the hospital? I have always had a hard time quitting jobs in the past. I was at my last job for 6 years and they knew I was leaving due to finishing my degree. Just curious as to how I should go about this. I plan to start looking in May. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I totally hear what you are saying Colleen
I am working on a similar ward to you. I am really wanting to stick it out till August this year but I am finding it hard to do that. I am looking elsewhere and considering OR. I am not sure what area of nursing that I am good for. I have come to the conclusion, I dont want to be on a ward and be miserable all the time, highly anxious and coming home depressed and upset, angry. It aint good for the soul and shouldnt have to live like this.
The point is, we gotta do what will make us happy. If that means leaving the so be it.
All the best :balloons:
ps: community nursing is also another area of interest for me too
