I need an answer to a question I have about being licensed in the state of Missouri. Is it true that you do not need to have any form of license to work in home health? Is experience enought to work in home health? I am a CNA and my aunt claims she is back to working home health but I was told by my instructor during clinicals that in Missouri you must be licensed. I need to know if it is true or not. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.
Thanks again,
Anna

To work in a Medicare Certified Home Health Agency ANYWHERE in the US, one must have a certificate as a Certified Home Health Aide or CNA and be listed on the state registry. This is a federal MEDICARE regulation in order to get paid by Medicare AND includes requirment for minimum of 12 hours of continuing education yearly.
A non Medicare licensed agency may employ personal care assistants or CNA's --- pay is often less than with certified agency.
