hello!

its been a long time since im browsing this forum but this is my first time to post...i just want to ask if im still qualified to take the NLE even if its been ages since i graduted...i finished my nursing degree 6 years ago, took the local boards after that but unfortunately wasnt able to pass it...due to my frustration and the need for money at that moment i decided to work abroad, working with a manufacturing company, completely not in line with my degree...next year i will finish my contract and am planning to take the boards as soon as i get home....am i still qualified?is it okay if i enroll in a refresher course even if i only flunked once?do u know any school offering refresher course?how many months wil it take?

thnx!

are you taking the Philippine board exams because you want to work here? if you're planning on migrating to the US, some states do not require you to pass the Phil board.

If you want to work in the Philippines or in the Middle East then by all means take the NLE..... BUT if you want to immigrate and work in the US, then there is no need for you to take the NLE and take the NCLEX instead..

yeah, like dindog said, where do you want to work? if you are thinking of working there in philippines, you need nle. if you want to work in the u.s. you don't need to take it. agewise, i have a cousin who graduated in 1998..she had 3 babies, worked in a none nursing job, now she realize she want to work as a nurse, and she plans to take the nle next june 2007. she is 30 something....:p :chuckle

May i ask two questions?

1. What are the other requirements aside from passing the phil board of the states that you are referring?

2. What are those states ?

thank you,

Creeze, read first all the "sticky" threads by suzanne at this link https://allnurses.com/forums/f75/. you'll find some of your answers there. As to the States that require or do not require that you pass the Phil board, I do not have the complete list. It would be better to decide what state do you wish to work in then check out that state's Board of Nursing website. In my wife's case, we plan on migrating to California which does not require that you pass the Phil board for you to take the nursing state board exam. Good luck.

hi!

sory for the late reply...am planning to take the NLE first to boost my confidence and to test my brains if its still working:uhoh21: ....

to RNHawaii34,i am a single parent and i want to migrate to the US as soon as possible but am afraid my memory got off track thru the years so i want to take a refresher course first before applying for any exam...is ur cousin attending a review center?

i think it is important for her to take the local boards because no agency will get her if she has not paSSED the local boards... if sha has a way to come here on her own... then by all means, skip the local boards and take nclex... this is just my opinion....
