Question about Fort Worth area LVN-ADN bridge programs

i know there are several schools around that offer the bridge program but was needing info on a particular one. does anyone know about tcc as far as going from lvn-rn. is this a traditional bridge program or what does it consist of? has anyone had problems with their sciences being "too old", like more than 5 years and the colleges not accepting them. this is a true bummer!! any advice would grealty be appreciated....

actually ..here is something i know lololol.. tcc cancelled the lvn to rn bridge about 4 years ago, now starting i think next summer (they may have already started on class) they are offering a fast track program for lvn's, paramedics and emt's. you can get informationon this by going to the south campus website ,then nursing , then information packet then fast track. from what i gather it not that much of a fast track. you have to test out of the first year courses instead of getting credit for them because you are a lvn and then if you dont pass these test you start back in mental health, which is the 2nd semester of the adn program. it seems longer to me than the lvn to rn program in weatherford (3 semester).

your sciences cannot be older than 5 years and that is so rotten cause who wants to sit through all that again. there is not many schools in this area for lvn's to bridge and the competition is so high . it takes a act of congress to get in. also hill college - cleburne has a new program , they used to be in conjuntion with mcc in waco now they are on their own with the program and it has either taken its first class or will next summer. so good luck to you...

Hill college- Cleburne

Brand new not even sure if they have had their first class yet, they say summer 07. They used to have this program at Cleburne but it was through MCC in Waco now hill is on their own. The admission stuff seems a bit crazy for this program but Im sure it still will be hard to get into to.

Actually I have some great news.. I called El Centro (one of the best programs in the area) and the Dean told me that (i guess because everyone says it is soooo hard to get into this program) they have not been getting many applicants for the lvn to rn program... she said they except about 20-30 and that is all the applicants they have been receiving so everyone is basically making it in, meeting just the minimun qualifications.. Check their website out and see if you qualify. Here it is...

Your kidding? They require algebra and almost hung up on me when I ask them if Chem could be a substitute. I would have thought this would have been one of the most difficult programs to get into. hummmm thanks for the info

Yes it HAS been, lol.. I was VERY SHOCKED.. i guess everyone is scared hahahaha... but just take the college algebra and pull a C... they sounded in need of applicants.. I havent even started the LVn program yet so I wouldnt be a good fit at all.. LOL, but hopefully they are still having the same program in 24 months ..

Well passing algebra is easier said than done!!! There was one school I was looking at that limited the times you could attempt algebra (and various other courses) before you were not eligible to attend their program. I just cant remember if it was El Centro or not. If the limit is 3 then I am out. Well If I could pass Algebra I wouldnt even be typing this because I got admitted to Tarleton State University's LVN to BSN program but failed algebra.. Lucky me the highest point in my life shattered by Math...lol.. Well chit happens right.

Girl get a tutor! It was rough for me too.. Call them, I bet they have a way around that.. a second change. Find it online somewhere that they are offering it again soon and retake it. Dcccd offers that class online and they may have classes starting at the end of Sept/first of October. I took it online. Not to shabby... more time to think if you ask me. DON'T GIVE UP!!! And yes, DCCCD only allows 3 attempts but after the third, they raise your tuition, that's about it. El Centro, of course, is a part of DCCCD.

I thought about taking at Edukan. I only fail by a couple of points each time you would think some teacher would have pitty on me and get tired of seeing my face every semester...lololol Ive had tutors and its not the homework or the lectures it's the test. I freak and start sweating . There is way to much riding on one class for me it makes my skin crawl. Ive tried getting somewhat drunk once (or twice) then Ive tried taking an anti-anxiety med prior to testing, does not help much. My husband is engineering student at UTA has to take calc 4 and tries to explain this to me but it's greek. Just talking about algebra gives me the hebbie- jebbies..lolololol
