Question for Female Nurses

Nurses General Nursing

Published

This is just something I've been wondering, I'm not in no way trying to offend anyone... Im obvisouly a male, and I'am straight... I just graduated high school, and I'm considering my college options, which do include Respiratory Therapist, RN, Diesel Technology, Welding, and a few more...

Would you(Female Nurses) rather date someone in the Medical Field(Male RN, Resp. Therapy, etc....) or someone in another career field?

Most people will probably think this is a crazy question.... But like I said this is just a question that I've been thinking about, and I'm not trying to offend anyone in anyway...

Step back and take a long look at this.... are you really willing to go through the sweat and tears of nursing school based on how easy it will be for you to get a date? Seriously, don't mean to sound like I'm bashing you, just have never seen anyone ask that question before... Simply put, nursing is a well-respected profession, and people tend to assume that if you make it through school, you have set high standards for yourself. You shouldn't have any problem, to say nothing of the fact that you will be surrounding yourself with a largly female workforce. Just don't expect life to be an episode of Scrubs where the nurses are all babes who walk around in miniskirts and heels. Good luck, whatever you decide.

I would in no way base a career on how easy it is to get a date, or on a TV show... But in my entire life I have probably never saw more than 5 male nurses... I didnt know how females would precieve male nurses, or resp. therapist, etc...... I wasnt meaning anything by it. I only wanted some opinions... Like I said before Eastern Ky is VERY rural...

You know what they say... men who change diapers change the world.

I know a lot of women who assume that medical men are more compassionate or what than nonmedical men.

I know a lot of women who sterotype an image of the perfect man and demand that anyone they're with live up to that fictional standard and even change for them.

Don't make your decisions based on what somebody else wants. You're not living their life, you're living yours and the only way to be happy to to make your decisions based on what you want.

blah, blah, blah :-)P

Flight, when Hubs and I were dating and I would hold his hand, he'd get reeeeeeaally nervous when I caressed it because he never knew if I was getting romantic or checking out his veins!

Oh Tazz my husband is the same way. He hates for me to rub his hand. Once I get that vibe, "IS SHE LOOKING AT MY VEINS" I have to do it I do start poking at his veins and say "Oh looks like a good one there." Now I also do it to my 13 year old son, kind of creaps him out too.

But Keaton I met my husband cruising the street, Really. Us kids had one road we drove up and down on to met other kids. But its funny he works for a big Chicken company, but his mom and two of his sisters are nurses. When we met I was going to nursing school for my LPN. Now I am a RN and he has had many different jobs, from working for the Chicken company, too farming, then back to the Chicken company where he is now the Mill Manager.

i have honestly never had a preference. but my husband is a firefighter/emt and attending police academy...so i guess you can say that i have a thing for a man in uniform. but really most women just want a good honest man that will hold down a job!

Keaton, we LOVE our male nurses here in Tampa, Fl. :loveya: And they do wear those scrubs well..... You can always relocate. ;)
