question about doing clinical hours in a different state

I'm considering going back to school this year to get my FNP. I was wondering if you can do NP clinical hours in a state in which you are not a licensed RN? Im thinking about school in PA, but I have a good friend (NP) in Florida that would be willing to precept me down there. would I have to get a Florida RN license to do that?

I do not see how you can practice nursing in FL without a FL nursing license. You would not be practicing totally under her license as unlicensed nursing students do in their first nursing program, specifically because you would supposedly be engaged in advanced nursing tasks. Worth an inquiry to the FL Board. Congrats on having someone willing to help you in this endeavor.

You have to get the FL license because you are still practicing as a RN-SFNP and are held liable for any malpractice. I do my clinicals in a different state and have their license.
