Hello all! I got a call yesterday for in interview in the Cardiac - Telemetry Unit!!!!!! :redbeathe Is there anyone out there that can give me any pointers for this floor...and the interview? I'm so excited. :yeah:

i work tele/pcu. can be one of the most difficult floors to work on. good place to start if you are interested in critical care but want to work the floor as well. you'll learn how to juggle multiple critical pts, cardiac drips/meds, reading strips, codes, and all the basic stuff you learn working with pts and their families. review cardiac drugs and drips. the hospital will put you through the required classes so no need to worry about extra stuff. you'll also be required to get your acls. good luck to you!

Tele is hard, but as you were advised know your drips, ACLS, etc! Good luck!

Thank you for your responses. I eventually would like to end up in the ED, but wanted to get some solid critical care experience under my belt. I consider myself to be a fast-paced person. I hope this is what I'm looking for.

Thank you for asking!!! :D I actually have my second interview today. This is a peer interview. I think that I'm more nervous about this interview. :chair: Its something about having to sit down and convince individuals that you may be working with that you are a team player. I really don't want the "I've heard this before" look from them. I did feel that the interview with the Nurse Manager went well. So I guess we will see.

Is there anyone out there who would be willing to share a couple of pointers about peer interviews?

I sort of had one. there was another RN and a PCA in on my interview. they asked me questions along with the mgr. nothing too difficult, some team player stuff. you will be fine! good luck!!!

Had my second interview last night and I have to say that it wasn't that bad. A lot of team oriented questions and questions directed to determine your thought process as a nurse. I asked them some pretty tough questions...like "what were the strengths and weaknesses of the floor?" and "what do they know now that they wish they knew when they started on the floor?" Before we departed, they said that they felt I would fit right in. Oh course I haven't heard anything yet, but we will see. Thanks for the support!
