Question about California endorsement

U.S.A. California

Published

Hello,

I am strongly considering moving to California in the next six months and want to get ready now. By the time I move I will have a year of experience. I am currently working in civil service and am interested in obtaining a public health nursing job in California. Should I apply to take the public health nurse examination first to get on the list to be interviewed or should I start the endorsement process first? Thank you advance for your help.

Start the endorsement process ASAP. It can take a long time for California. If you can come out to California to get your fingerprints done on LIveScan, do so. Good luck.

Is it worth it to pay the extra $100 and apply for the temporary license, as far as timeliness goes, for licensure by endorsement? Provided you're able to do the LiveScan fingerprinting. I'm going to be transferring my license from ME to CA in June and would like to start working/applying for jobs as a new grad ASAP and just don't know if it's actually worth it or not.
