Question about Bachelors in Nutrition/RN jobs after school- Advice needed!

Published

Hi!

I am looking for some advice on my path towards getting a nursing job after school. I hold a bachelors in nutrition and dietetics, i decided i wanted something different and pursued education in nursing. Because i needed to work full time i wasn't able to do the accelerated program for BSN, so i decided on associated RN that was part time and at night. What i hear is that most hospitals (in my area, Boston MA) won't look at you unless you have a BSN and associate RN and LPN are being phased out. My question is do i need specifically the BSN or will hospitals consider me based on my Bachelors in nutrition and dietetics and associates RN.

Not sure about Boston area specifically but in my experience on the opposite coast it is a BSN specifically that hospitals are looking for, rather than a bachelor's degree in general. Some however may be willing to hire ADN if you are willing to sign a contract stating that you will get a BSN degree in X number of years, or if you show that you are already enrolled in a RN-BSN bridge program.

MA BSN graduate here, from what I've seen and heard the BSN specifically is a requisite if you want to work at the longwood medical area hospitals. However, Greater Boston area hospitals like Lawerence General and Beverly will consider ADNs as long as you commit to getting the BSN within a certain amount of time. I've seen ADNs encouraged to apply on job postings on the Cape too. Best of luck!
