Yes I was sitting crying wathcing the news as it said 2 mothers and their children were killed when swept away. I wonder if any nurses have been called in? If I was up there I'd definitely be offering to help. Gave money today and want to donate furniture etc, but there is no-one delivering goods up there at the mo. Does anyone know if any charity is delivering goods for people? Or are the roads just too bad?

My prayers and thoughts to everyone up there.

Carol- most places they are able to get supplies to- either by boat, airplanes, or car. Im living in brisbane and we've been getting hit for the past couple of days. We went to the grocery store a couple of days ago..no meat, eggs, water, bread or milk- it was a strange feeling. Now they have closed down all of the city and the only things that are open are the pubs (go figure- ha).

My hospital is still open and taking admissions but, MANY or maybe even all other ones in the city are closed due to flooding. This morning we had no one to take bloods. we had no linen. no more bottled water. and they were worried about oxygen tanks. it's a scary time. And they have shut down some of the wards in my hospital that staff can stay in if they can't get home. Also, staffing has been a big problem.

Im so ready for this to be over with!! Last night I was busy packing up my house so I didn't get to sleep until 2am and had to head to work at 5am. so exhausted!!!

Lammy I wish I could fly up there and help you, I really wish I could and was up there. My gf is worried about her sister who lives in Kangaroo Point, I think she said they are being evacuated now, or soon.

So, so sorry you are tired. Can you stay at the hospital to rest or have u got kids at home? Have you gone to a shelter? I won't sleep tonight thinking of everyone up there in the shelters.

It would be very scary, but at least you have some other people there, and you can comfort each other. Everyone will be pulling together for you guys up there, don't worry, food is being delivered they said by hook or by crook! I wanted to donate a mattess and fridge I have but they are not taking those at the mo, so I gave what little money I had. Money is the main thing.

And nurses, doctors, etc will stick together and support each other, I've seen it before during some disasters at my old hospital. Even the ones no-one likes stick together and help out!

Hang in there (easy for me to say!). You have more Aussie spirit than you know about. And it won't last forever.

I remember being stuck out on the nullarbor during a massive storm when I was young, & have never been so terrified in my life. My Dad's car got tipped over and our tent was whipped away and we were all huddling together, just screaming, soaked to our skin from torrential rain, but couldn't hear ourselves cos of the howling wind. In the end we survived, but I don't know how.

Stay together with other people and try to get some sleep tonight if you can.

Hopefully tomorrow will bring better news. Am praying for all you guys, so let me know how you get on.

Luv Carol
