Queensborough Community College (QCC) Fall 2024

Published

Hello Everyone,

Applications start next Monday and I was wondering if anyone wants to share their science GPA or PAX scores? I am taking my exam tomorrow evening (cutting it close). I am so nervous for this application. We can utilize this thread to also talk about upcoming interviews and who got accepted and with which stats.

https://www.calculator.net/GPA-calculator.html

The above link is a resource for those who need help calculating their GPA. Plug in the following classes and your grades.

EN 101 English Composition I  3 credits

PSYC-101 Psychology I  3 credits

MATH-119/MATH-336 Math I  3 credits

BI-301 Anatomy and Physiology I  4 credits

Total Pre-Clinical Credits -  13

As per their website the following substitutions are allowed for an overall stronger GPA.

Bio-302 for Bio-301

Eng-102 for Eng-101

PSYC-220 for PSYC-101

And I was told by the nursing department to substitute my A&P I score (B-) for my A&P II score (A).

My GPA with the adjusted grade came out to 3.677 and it's making me so stressed.

Once I receive my PAX grade I will respond to this post.

Hopefully starting this conversation will help someone as I found previous posts like this comforting and full of information (dates of when interviews are scheduled, when acceptances/rejections are sent out, when the program begins, etc)

Studying for the pax I used the Red NLN RN Pre-Entrance EXAM book that was suggested, the practice exams provided by NLN website, the NLN PAX app on iphone and quizlets (although quizlets were just a lot of regurgitated from the NLN website)

For some background information, I applied previously to an accelerated private school program and got in, however that school was not yet accredited and I did not want to gamble with loans. I took the HESI for that school and got an almost perfect score (subtle brag) but I definitely felt that compared to the content on the PAX, the HESI exam was easier and it did not have a physics topic.

Sorry for the long post, but Good Luck EVERYONE (if anyone sees this post, ever)

hey everyone!

I haven't received an email for an interview yet either.

PAX score 144 &  prereqs GPA is 3.2.

Eng 101- A, im substituting A&P 2 (B- grade) for A&P 1 (C grade). Statistics- B, and received a B+ in PSYC 101. I will be transparent I applied last semester for a seat in the Spring 2024 nursing program. I received an email interview for an interview within 3 days of applying and had the interview 2 days before the application window closed.

During the interview there is a  the professor has a rubric with everyone's name on it. You are interviewed in a group of 6-8 people, and based off of the interview questions she writes notes here and there. The professor wrote yes on my rubric and showed it to me, meaning I passed that part of the application process.

At that time I had completed about 52 credits. Many of the classes I have already completed are in the two year curriculum of the nursing program. The ONLY class I did not have was Microbiology and I was denied a spot in the program because of that. They truly favor people who already completed microbio.

I enrolled to take it this Summer, I hope they can see that and take it into consideration this time around.

OMG I passed the PAX I'm so fu happy... I just finished applying right now!!

Prereq GPA: 3.5

PAX: 111

Hi just an update everyone my Pax was 143. I'm pretty nervous tbh. Everyone has such a different result for getting in that it's hard to have anything to compare to ☹️

Has anyone gotten an interview email yet??

That's very true everyone has such a different result. I truly thought I was going to get accepted but here I am trying again 😭 I know they want a score of 110 and up. They won't accept less than that for the pax.

Question for you. I know people were getting interviews on a rolling basis in past semesters but when I submitted the application I noticed that it said something like "you'll hear from us at the end of the semester.” Do you remember if it said that when you applied previously because I was thinking that was weird if they were gonna have interviews.

Anyone taking Microbiology this Summer? Registration Summer class open today..

I plan on taking Microbiology over the Summer

I thought that they preferred people who have already finished Microbio

Thats really crazy ! for just one class !? Thats the only class I haven't completed not to mention I've already completed majority of the classes in the program as well. I still applied for Fall 2024 admission and registering to take Micro over the Summer. I do have a few questions for you tho

What kind of questions did they ask ? and was there a dress code for the interview ?

Also do they tell you in writing why you were not admitted to the program ?

They sent a very generic denial letter that I believe is sent to everyone in the program. It stated that I did not complete all required coursework and they are unable to offer me a seat at this time. And it said please complete all coursework and apply again.
There was nothing specific whatsoever about the denial letter which was very aggravating and I can only think of being denied because I did not have microbio done.
The dress code is business casual.

And they ask all kinds of question, mainly regular interview questions that you come across while interviewing for a job. They ask why you want to become a nurse, how you felt about the pandemic, if you have any experience in the medical field, and how do you solve problems with people you don't get along with.

That pertains to knowing if you're accepted or not to the program. Thats not regarding getting an email for an interview, which I still haven't received 😭 has anyone else received one?

Nope. Still no e-mail for an interview.
