Do any of you have methods of making sure experts are qualified prior to recommending or providing their name to an attorney? Besides the CV? We had a very skilled clinician used who turned out to be really bad at testimony, and her opinions did not make sense. We use the CV and bio and phone interview as our primary means of qualifying experts. Have any of you worked with others who require a practice case study, video bio, written critique or other means?

Do you offer any kind of mentoring for those people who would be great at expert testimony but have not had a lot of experience yet? (help with fee schedules and contracts etc.)

Excellent question, JKDON,

I utilize the website for my certification program. There is a server just for this. Plus, I call upon experts that I've had either first-hand experience with (before I became CLNC) and those who are trusted by other CLNCs.

Could it be your "expert" wasn't properly prepped for cross?

I do help with fees and contracts, but only assist in the prep of the witness.
