Hi! I just applied to the QCC Nursing program for fall 2021. I was wondering if anyone else applied or gotten their interview date yet?
The reason why they started emphasizing to students to take micro before is that there has been many students who failed out due to doing exactly this. Having taken 101 already, I can't even imagine having to worry about micro ontop of 101. Micro was a simple class by itself but as I mentioned before, these nursing classes are a whole other beast. I studied on average 6-8 hours a day to get my A. All the exams are in NCLEX format meaning there are select all that applies questions. You will be sitting there doing hundreds of questions and reading the textbook all day. A&P is an absolute joke compared to 101 but 102 is way harder than 101. If you need to take micro, they only offer in Summer and not the Winter so if you get in for the fall, you will have to take it with 101.
However, there are exceptional students who managed to take both at the same time and do fine. But I'm letting you guys know that those people probably had 0 time for anything other than studying. So why take the chance and take both? They should seriously change the rule so that Micro is required so it doesn't confuse people.
I agreee they should change the rule especially if they’re going to emphasize how important it is to take before getting into the program but not technically ‘required’. If I get in this round I’ll probably take a break from work for the semester to focus on school so hopefully I’ll be alright with both on my plate.

they used the openstax Microbiology this semester, so it's free online! Even if they don't use it in the Summer I cant imagine the syllabus will be much different.

I just had (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) for lab this past Spring. I feel she is a fair grader, tells you the right answer, and explains why you got it wrong. It's hard to give a fair assessment when I didn't even have a proper hands-on lab.
I did well, anyway.

Oh thats great info. She posted some things about the lab and lecture and so far seems to be on top of everything. The lab will still be online so we'll see how it goes!

What helped me a lot for online lab was to watch more videos of the lab procedures (besides the ones recommended by the professor).
And for lecture, definitely try to read ahead if you can. I managed to stay on top (or ahead) of the textbook readings until maybe 5 weeks ago. It's a lot, but it is doable.
