QCC (queensborough) Nursing fall 2021

Published

Hi! I just applied to the QCC Nursing program for fall 2021. I was wondering if anyone else applied or gotten their interview date yet?

Yeah I haven’t heard anything yet either. They had contacted me on Monday about my status in taking BI 311 in the Summer and I was able to get in. They also said after grades were posted we would find out. I’m thinking now that maybe we’ll hear something on Tuesday? I’m not too sure though. ?

Oh my God, my GPA just dropped because of one history class I took. Does anyone know if they look at your overall GPA? I'm so sad now ??

No one really knows what affects their decisions. You have just as good a shot, as everyone else.

I know quite a few people who had good stats and didn't get interviewed. We should all be hearing back soon. ?

I might be wrong but I think they look at both regular GPA and the GPA for the classes that are required. So you probably still have a shot! This waiting is killing me though! Hopefully we all get in ??

I thought they only looked at the required course work. I hope so. Nervously awaiting a response ?

I just checked my email from last Summer. My cohort got our acceptance emails on 6/23/20. It might take a few more weeks just be patient!

Really? OMG! What a long wait.

Then it should have been phrased to us “expect to receive responses after the end of the semester” instead of “expect to receive responses by end of semester”.

Communication matters. Not every applicant is just a student w no other obligations...

Awe man, I hope the wait isn’t that long. I work full time and I have to plan telling my boss I need to drop in hours. It’ll take them awhile to find my replacement so I wanted to give them as much notice as I could. Either way I’m still excited to hear back. Thanks for the info!!

The reason why they started emphasizing to students to take micro before is that there has been many students who failed out due to doing exactly this. Having taken 101 already, I can't even imagine having to worry about micro ontop of 101. Micro was a simple class by itself but as I mentioned before, these nursing classes are a whole other beast. I studied on average 6-8 hours a day to get my A. All the exams are in NCLEX format meaning there are select all that applies questions. You will be sitting there doing hundreds of questions and reading the textbook all day. A&P is an absolute joke compared to 101 but 102 is way harder than 101. If you need to take micro, they only offer in Summer and not the Winter so if you get in for the fall, you will have to take it with 101.

Hi!

I haven't been able to find any info about how many classes we enroll in per semester.. Do students take one clinical per semester or are NU 101 and 102 taken together, NU 201 and 202 taken the next semester and then the three credit course the next fall? There are no clinicals offered in the Summer, correct?

Thanks so much.

I believe @Medsurgbst might know officially but I think that we take one course per semester with no Summer courses. So next semester we would be taking NU 101. Then in the Spring NU 102. Have you heard back yet?!

That's why I replied to one of their past messages. I wasn't anticipating or expecting an associate's degree to take as long as a bachelors (4yr). Then again, when I had spoken to nursing dept last year, shortly before I registered AP1 -- they had given me the impression that I only needed 4 preclinical courses NOT 9...

Also knowing that payment plans for the fall start somewhere in the Summer... I would hope we would know/receive notice before that happens,

No, no news at all. ?

My cousin who had graduated from a different CUNY RN program years ago just gave me a ton of his notes/materials from his first nursing classes. Since I'm not taking anything Summer session, I'm spending a few hours daily reviewing/studying his notes... so I don't forget how to study! I know it's not the same classes, but I"m feeling like I just can't slack this Summer. You know?
