Hi! I just applied to the QCC Nursing program for fall 2021. I was wondering if anyone else applied or gotten their interview date yet?

Some were pretty generic like why do you wanna be a nurse, what would be your greatest strength as a future nurse, but a couple tripped me like how do you think the pandemic has affected a healthcare professional. I was like ?? my imagination is not that vivid LOL I can't imagine what it would be like. what kind of things did they ask you?
hey yeah they asked pretty much the same things. also some stuff along the lines of covid like how do you talk to someone whos apprehensive about getting the vaccine. they also asked who most influenced you, and asked some students what their four year plan was. hopefully we'll hear back sooner than later. I wonder how many more rounds of interviews theyll do.

I'm finishing up NU102 right now and will be a 201 student in the fall. I plan on being a mentor so ask me any questions about anything!
OMG congrats that’s awesome! How is the program so far? I still haven’t heard anything back since my interview. Do they email you when you get in?
From what I remember from when I applied, it took them about 1 to 2 months to get back to everyone who applied. If you failed any of the pre req courses or even withdrew, you were ineligible. JUST A HEADS UP. The nursing courses are very hard and require hours of studying. Getting in the program is not the hard part, staying in is.
And yea they email everyone who got in at the same time. NU101 was hard but way easier than NU102. NU101 is fundamentals which is the basics of nursing and this is where you get down your physical assessment and medication administration. NU 102 is med surg which is a bulk of the NCLEX. It's a ton of information which carries over to 201. Each class is a mountain to climb but as long as you put in the hours and focus, you can do it. Many people fail/drop out in 102 and 201 due to the difficulty. But so far I've been getting As.
Yeah I'm assuming well hear back at the end of the month or early June. I heard the first two courses were tough, so I'm planning on severely reducing my hours at work if I get in but I want to make sure I have enough notice for my boss. That's awesome you're doing so well so far. I'd love some tips if I wind up getting in the program!
I have three withdrawals from my prereqs , does that mean I’m eligible . I was told having withdrawals isn’t a basis to their decision .
If you go on the qcc website for prospective students, it clearly states you cannot repeat any of the courses that are part of the pre req which includes English 101, bi 301, ma 336, and psych 101. You can however send in your application but you need yo write an appeal letter. However, I don't think they will view 3 withdrawals lightly. This is a very difficult program and their goal is to accept students who have the best shot at passing and making to the end. I'm not trying to scare you or anything, it is what it is and I want to give you an accurate answer. I had a friend who didn't get in bc he had withdrew from MA 336. You should still send in your app and the appeal regardless just to try.
Yes, it does clearly state that “you may not repeat a course” but it doesn’t include you not being eligible . The emphasis on ineligibility is strongly connected to failing a pre-requisite, so your first post was misleading. You made it seem like once there’s a repeat it equates to being ineligible for the program and that’s false. It is important to put out accurate information when it comes to subjects of this nature.
Sorry that you were offended by my post but I think you are misleading yourself. How does the statement: "you many not repeat a class" different from being ineligible. Anyone can technically send in an application but that is not the same thing as being eligible to be considered. I had just provided you proof that a friend of mine was not accepted due to this fact that I had pointed out. If you don't believe me why don't you call the nursing office and ask them. You will get the same answer.
I did call the nursing department and I was told that a “W” is not a determinant for getting into the program. She went further to tell they won’t refuse an applicant because they have a W on their transcript. I will take more seriously what I was told from the nursing department office. Thanks for the advice and everyone reading this should always verify information from the school. Have a good day.
