 I need your help / suggestions / advices

I passed the exam @ QC general hospital and about to start the orientation for my training on monday for 6 months (without pay) but @ the same time I have an exam @ Ospital ng maynila also on the same day. Im a little confused whether to pursue the training @ QC general hospital or risk it for a chance to be employed @ Ospital ng Maynila.

Thanks

Is there any way you could negotiate with your training hospital so you can be off to take your exam?

I would personally prefer to get paid for the work I do. We all need to eat, don't we?

However, taking an exam doesn't guarantee you the job as yet. You still need to be interviewed etc...

Other things to consider:

1. Will QC Hospital guarantee you a paid job (subject to good performance) should you complete your six months of unpaid training?

2. Will it be sustainable for you to work unpaid for another six months? Yo have to factor in your transport allowance, food, housing etc...

I dont think the training is negotiable. Just like the affiliation days, no orientation no duty. Im not so sure about it though.. And given the situation we're in right now and thousands of jobless/new nurses, its just so hard to decide.

It doesnt really guarantee that OM will offer me a job and I wouldnt know how long will it take them to process my papers if i do qualify for the position.

Additional info: I dont have work experience yet nor volunteered for any hospital because there arent many hospitals here in the metro that accepts nurse volunteer and nurses with no experience at all. Im also considering training @ NKTI for 8K that would last for 4 months. But Im not sure if the training in NKTI will be that intensive unlike in QC general hospital which I heard will rotate their trainees to all the critical areas. No guarantee that they'll deploy me as staff after the training!

And regarding financial concerns, I think I can manage to feed myself during the 6 months of training @ QC general.

Hello.

You must be psyched to know you got in both hospitals. Believe me there are so many nurses who would want to be in your place. Scarcity of job opportunities is the trend these days.

My little theory about these kinds of dilemma, is.. grab the first opportunity.

Still depends on you.

Good luck!

I did not take the exam @ Ospital ng manynila and instead went to QC general hospital for the orientation. Training will start next week, I just hope that my exposure will help me become a better nurse..

Thanks YooJin

that's good.so your one of the new batch this coming week. Yes you will be expose to all units/ward of QCGH, you will work like a staff nurse without payment..actually if you have a good performance you can apply after or in the middle of training as staff nurse in personnel office, that's one of their basis for hiring a new grad..

well goodluck and see you there..uhhmm expect the unexpected...:nurse:

hi akoitoh, we were told that we are not allowed to do IV push? I dont know if this is true though. Yeah 0 payment, and we paid 2,400 for the training, I just hope I learn a lot from this exposure!! hmmm expect the unexpected? sounds like a threat haha What should i expect?
