PVT Trick in less than 24hours indeed took $200 (what the odds of passing?

Nursing Students NCLEX

hi everyone i took my nclex pn yesterday march 29 2017 at 2 pm my test shut down in 100th questions. i did the pvt trick just this morning around 10:30 and it went thru. my debit card is now charged $200. so does this mean i failed? Ps. im in CA so quick results is not available. Another question is how will i know the official results? thank you

There is no way to know the "odds" but from reading this board, anecdotally, I'd say your chances of having passed are really very small. It's not impossible but it's very unlikely.

You will receive notice from your Board of Nursing that you did not pass, did not receive a license. You will also receive a Candidate Performance Report from Pearson Vue, telling you the breakdown of how you did on all the areas of testing, where you were below passing, above passing, or near passing. This will help you to formulate a sound study strategy for retaking the NCLEX.

Sorry but if it took your money, you more than likely failed. When I wanted my sanity, I put in my real credit card info (as opposed to spoofing the expiration date) and the Pearson site simply would not take my money.

It didn't 'take' your money. You gave it rather than wait a couple days.

thanks guys. yea i accepted it already i am now waiting for the official result in the next week or two. I am studying now harder and more focus this time hoping for the best.

It's good that you are now at least accepting of the high probability that you failed. It's a very tough exam and it's really easy to misread a question. Anecdotally, you have to wait at least 24 hours before the PVT starts becoming reasonably accurate, but at 48 hours it should mirror quick results as many states allow it so their system is (or should be) geared to have everything completed by then. It just doesn't make much sense to insert code that delays billing until a BRN can review a result (and that would introduce yet more complexity and make PV partially dependent upon an outside entity to determine if/when another attempt can be paid for).

If, after about 24 hours you get a debit attempt against a card, it means you have very likely failed. It does happen every so often that the system hasn't scored your exam the 2nd (and final) time and therefore hasn't resulted back to the billing system to STOP the debit process. This is why the "new" PVT is so dangerous to your bank account. As long as the billing system doesn't "see" a passing result, you will get billed, even if you ultimately are determined to have passed the exam.

I think it used to be the other way around where the system had to check pass/fail in order to determine if a candidate should proceed to the payment page. In other words, you'd "GO" to billing and the system checks P/F and you'd either proceed to entering CC info or you'd get a "another registration cannot be made..." type of message.

yea at first i was thinking of putting a valid cc but with a wrong expiration date but i did not do it i went ahead and type in the right cc number and all thinking that if i failed and it went thru i would be needing to re-register anyway.. So yea now im just waiting for the official results, study harder and wait 45 days to retake the exam the only problem is to how will i contact the BVNPT as i am always directed to a voicemail..

Hey, just wondering how if you end up passing after getting charged?
