PVT indicates fail! Excellent on Kaplan! Psych help please

Ok. Took nclex yesterday in LA.. Was excited I did so well. 75 questions. I knew many answers and KNEW I passed. Drove 2 hrs home and found out failed according to PCT. WAS SHOCKED and devastated. I am already hired with a hospital and already did my orientation, badging, physical, and all. So upset, I drove 3 hours the same night to my hometown where my parents live at 10pm. Still says failed today according to PVT. Haven't heard of anyone in my class that failed yet and is very upsetting. Even worse, they keep calling me "Did you pass..did you do the trick..did you look up your name...and everyone facebooking their name and RN, BSN, PHN. Upsetting that even the slackers in the class passed, and got good jobs. Feel upset. Hoping for some MIRACLE that the trick had some kind of malfunction. But after researching for hours and hours, it is unheard of that this trick has failed anyone. Haven't found a thread yet...that will give me hope. Anyway, I Took kaplan. Did all Qbank - I got 65-75% in most of them. And i was told 65% and higher is excellent. Some random 55%'s. My weakness psychosocial. Did all psychosocial in qbank. Ordered subscription to NCBSN. Did about 40% of those too. Did excellent. NOW THIS...I failed. Ok I just have accept it..but keep thinking that even if I pass in 45 days, Versant programs here don't start till February. Anyway am requesting some study tips on particularly psych. Is there any guidelines on these. I know safety first, but when communicating to pts and family, there is not a set guideline. For instance (these are not from any exams):

Have a patient with a dying man or child with the wife present...what do you say? "This must be a difficult time for you". 2. Please tell me of any concerns you have? 3. Leave them alone for a while 4. Would you like me to call a family member for you?

Questions like these, kaplan has different kinds of answers. Some say must empathize with patient first before getting them to express feelings. And some, I pick the empathy answer and it says, should have them express feelings. WHICH IS IT? Is there any way of doing these.

Also, when a schizo is in a room by himself and is yelling at someone, obviously not there..is this a need for immediate attention.

If a bipolor manic patient is pacing...does that mean be is going to go into a manic phase?

Also, I know a high K+ is an emergency, but is it a priority emergency?

Also, what is the goal of treatment for addison's in regards to labs. To decrease K+ right?

Anyway, I know many people post study material on here, but usually lacks the psych stuff. Can someone post some good guidelines? Also, some stuff of mythenia gravis and guillan barre? Maybe some diseases and diet material?

Thanks everyone. So helpful on this site.

Don't worry. same thing happened with me too. psycho practice questions comes with practice . its hard to select some time. sometime 2 choices are almost same. i would practice more psycho questions.

pray. everything will be allright.

Best wishes with your official results.

I know how you feel....it happened to me back in may....i wrote a thread regarding ppl being too concerned with what they score on the Kaplan practice tests...i tell you this...i started ONE flippin Q-Bank test of 50 questions and saw that i was getting ALL of them WRONG...and my score was 54% at the end...i realized that the studying was not going to be effective....so what i did was study my content FIRST...a brief review...i did Exam cram...Excellent refresher...i did saunders at first but i found the info was way too much...i am the "what i need to know without fluff" type person ...however everything IS important but some things are just common...then i did La Charity for priority...Another GREAT source...after 3 days of completion of Exam Cram..i didnt do the questions in the back of the book i just reviewed the content and did the questions to the mini ch reviews...after exam cram and Lacharity...i did the Kaplan....i ONLY did the Kaplan TRAINERS...NO Q-BANK....I did Trainer 7 FIRST, Trainer 6 the next day and Trainer 5 the day before my test....i really wanted to do all of them but they say the Trainer 5, 6, and 7 are the MOST important...FORGET ABOUT the flipping scores you get...i believe that this is a FALSE reassurance for many...yeah i got 60's too when i first took my exam and guess what?..I had FAILED!...i know friends af mine that couldnt score pass a 50!...and took nclex-rn and PASSED!...even those who did NOT use Kaplan and werent the smartest tool in the shed were passing!...lol..sooo i know how you feel...please dont compare yourself to others...NEVER....you CAN do this..i cannot stress enough that when you review Kaplan...and please do...do the trainers!...ONE a day...here is the thing read the question CAREFULLY...and the choices CAREFULLY...dont kill yourself trying to "memorize" the strategies...it will drive you nuts!...just take each question for its own face value...seriously...not every disease will have the SAME priority...you know what i mean?...so with that said...take one trainer at a time...and do each question and look at the answer after you've chosen your question...READ the reason WHY that was the answer or WHY you got it wrong...WHY WHY WHY..is the KEY...you'll realize that kaplan questions are all on the same topic...but the questions are asked in different ways..just like the nclex....they want to see if you can think critically..so what it does is it prepares you to answer questions any way it may come at you on the REAL deal...TAKE YOUR TIME....and i repeat TAKE YOUR TIME reviewing the questions/answers on the Trainers...this helps ALOT to absorb what you are learning..dont rush....Where are you going??...lol..seriously dont rush...and most important...FAITH/POSITIVITY/PRAYER..honey..it works...and forget about what others think..you're NOT stupid..you can do this...everyone knows nclex changed as of April and they raised the bar...its not a test of who;s the smartest its just a MINIMAL COMPETENCY TEST!...thats it!....so buck it up...keep your head up...and stop telling ppl you're B.I..lol...you'll be alright...EVERYTHING happens for a reason...ignore the facebook announcements...i know what you feel...been there...you can do this...PM me if you want...take care and good luck!
